Rosemary pretty much summed it up in her first line - limitation and
discomfort. Obviously, if these things are present in the patient's life,
they are things that have to be dealt with to bring him back to a state of
balance/health. Just asking the patient why he called will usually open up
the whole thing and keeping the answer to this question in mind throughout
the casetaking helps to keep me on track.

Hi Rosemary,
"compensated" vs. "uncompensated" are Psychology terms.
We use them in case-taking; refers to the greater likelihood that an
off-hand (un-calculated) comment will expose a "deeper" truth, unmasked by
the COMPENSATION of the conscious mind, which attends, among other things,
to the building and protecting of the EGO.. which requires that
"uncompensated" truths occasionally be "compensated"
