Bad health plan then, but a sick person is usually not in a position to
change at that point or to challenge the plan provisions for essentially
excluding one form of health care by failing to list a practitioner for
it, or alternatively to accept a practitioner not on "their list" to
fulfill requirements of law not to exclude that entire category of
health care.
I do agree that implementation of the law is still difficult. It takes a
lot of pro-active work to get somewhere with it. One has to challenge
the insurance companies. However with Gov Gregoire's precedent-setting
case, one should be able to get progress just threatening a law suit if
they do not allow a homeopath in WA state. Both client and homeopath
however, need to KNOW about the law and what it states. The insurance
company is not going to "remember" it!
Where I am seeing a bigger problem is in wanting to use homeopathy under
social security (disability law or for retired people), as that is
federal, and there is no federal law about it - and so I do not know if
WA's law has any effect for retired or disabled people in WA - under the
social security system.
You'd need more than an ocean of Tide for that:-)

My first exposure to this was in the late 80's when I became aware of an insurance company (US) being bought out by MDs in order to discriminate against chiropractors. As a naturopath, who by defination is eclectic in nature, I choose homeopathy as my first modality whenever possible. However, I fear that insurance coverage will tie our hands and dictate how we will treat our patients. It is truly a double-edged sword of which we must be cautious & careful rather than eager to embrace. By the way, I usually find it amusing watching 'non-believers' come up with the wildest explanations in order to explain away why homeopathy works so well on animals. "Well it's the soul bond between animal and owner" or "well we haven';t fully explored ESP, telepathy, etc" In fact, I would suggest we engage vets to conduct a homeopathic study. After all, animal studies are what big pharma uses!
Christmas Blessings to one & all
protocols would probably save significant amounts of money.
however, the insurance companies, for the most part, refuse
to look at this. there are a couple of places like seattle,
washington where you can get holistically based health care
insurance in some circumstances so there is a track record
of comparative costs to look at. but this doesnt seem to
matter. so, once again, one has to question the real motives
and financial connections between the insurance industry and
the other 2 legs of the medcial industry: big pharma and the
ama.
i think i have given up on the insurance industry. my vision
involves doing away with private insurance companies as far as
health care goes. their bottom line thinking is antagonistic
to meaningful health care.

yep--and that is my point. but it is happening in
a number of places and people seem to respond more to
politics on that level than fighting for holistic health
care.

yes, there is a entire comedy to be written about
some of this.
i like your idea of engaging allopathic vets to
participate in a study. some of them may be open
since they often tolerate use of homeopathics with
their patients. although i have a neighber, a young
man, who is so committed to allopathy that he referred
to another vet as a part time dabler who uses holistic
means for healing. he just wrote her off as having any
level of seriousness about her. i had taken my cat
to her once and she runs a full-time practice using
acupuncture and homeopathic combos along with allopathy .
i thought that was pretty funny--and sexist and bigoted
of him. (you had to be there).

Humans I work with also seem to find wild explanations to explain why they recovered without acknowledging that homeopathy actually works. Just had a lady with 6 year history of sinus problems (and every form of antibiotic and surgery ). Absolutely no relief from any form of allopathic treatment during that time. Two doses of a homeopathic remedy and she was able to cancel the next planned surgery and has had no further problems. Her allopathic doctor confidently told her that his treatments finally worked - and I think she believed him. Those who have had frantic lightning fearful animals become calm and more comfortable after one homeopathic remedy have told me only one little pill could not have done anything, it was just that the dog finally grew out of his problem. The wildest explanations I have heard usually accompany the most spectacular healing (both human and animal) since it is so hard to accept the fact that something so little - so easy - and that is over the counter can work so well.

i am reminded of a fellow who was working for me a few
years ago. i came in and found him lying on the floor,
his face drained, no appetite despite his usual hunger
at lunch time-a mess. i dragged him to my office, took
some sx and gave him a rx. after about 20" he was antsy
to get lunch and back to work. i asked him if the rx was
helping and he said he couldn't say!!
so typical. i am sure we all have cases like that.

Engaging homeopathic vets to help supervise clinical trials is an idea with a lot of merit. You can't really claim placebo for long with non-humans, and in fact, veterinary medicine has paved the way for many later human medicines.

Being grateful to homeopathy shows there has been substantial
improvement, not crediting the doctor or the system shows a good cure-
they do not feel like patients anymore....
almost like cutting the cord

Interesting!!! Well somehow the term "spontaneous remission" comes up when talking about humans but entertainment when refering to animals so I usually like talking about animals - lol
