but there is nothing in it that supports holistic protocols in any
specific way.

it has the market clout. This is what will happen if you just decide
things using market forces and economy to decide about health care. The
one that can market well and has good salespeople will win. Is that what

Wrong- Esp, if the population is composed of so much immigrants and
not-very-educated you can be very gullible without good information -
and that includes health care. How is the govt and any other body
supposed to sustain research and support good health care practices if
some how a decision is made whether this is a system that can be
supported or not? The problem even in UK is because of that- your market

Agreed. But it is the governments - and in turn- society's
responsibility to make sure that parents do not end up harming children
by their ignorance / lack of education/ and lack of proper controls in
the society.

This is the attitude to breed charlatans. All of us have a collective
societal responsibility to make sure that people are not fleeced. Why do
you think in areas of natural disaster government intervenes to make
sure that there is no price gouging?
I was mentioning government only in the context of something that is
central and governs the implementation of health care in any country. It
can be any central body. I still think health and health care systems
need some kind of regulation.

I am looking at 2 different sets of controls. One decides what health
care systems should prevail in a country. This would decide the minimum
scientific background needed for a system of medicine. This body would
make sure that all the health care systems that are so reviewed and
approved are respected by all funding agencies, insurance companies etc.
People would have freedom to choose from any one of these.

The second kind of control is the one that controls the standards within
any system of therapy. This would be mostly decided by the individual
system. As long as someone is practising according to the standards set
by the body they will have legal protection.

Of course people can still practice dubious practices and people ( and
animals) can still go there if they are stupid enough to do so. But
since these systems have not been reviewed such practitioners would not
have the protection of law or whatever.
