Try if you haven’t already: Stomach, hiccough, operation, after abdominal
Hyos
References are Farrington and Vithoulkas, and I also saw it referenced as being from Boenninghausen in the Complete/RU

The other rubric is the same but just after operations, and has Hyos, Ignatia, and Teucrium.
Sounds like the nerves serving the diaphragm have been irritated or damaged by the op

Tarentula also has hiccups following laughing (Allen's Encyclopedia).

Thanks Robyn. Good to have your insights on this and other topics. Did try Cuprum 6c once years ago on this elderly very talkative rather elegant gentleman. He is interested again as on too many medications for reflux and other things, Best Wishes Jean
