This is only one of Hahnemann's interpretations.

The other is that the "vital force" (if one may call it that) of the
remedy does attack the similar disturbance of the vital force of the
patient, overcomes it by its similarity and then has establlished
itself as a similar condition to the one that was before - a
remedy-illness is established. That, however, dwindles away by itself
so that the vi.f. of the patient isrestored to its healthy state.

I do not off-hand remember the number of the aphorism - but I suppose
it will come up in Soroush's presentation of them.

Well, note that you've said, "does attack the similar disturbance of
the vital force *of the patient*...". That is my point; that a remedy
is (at least classically, which is all I know) chosen by its ability to
influence the *patient* (oh okay, to influence "the vital force of the
patient" ), rather than attacking any "disease organisms"
directly. Hm, I suppose someone must have done experiments to see
whether any remedies can inhibit growth of any organisms directly, in
vitro? That would be interesting... I would not *expect* any to, but
then I would not have expected much of *anything* I have learned about
homeopathy!

Well, I guess I meant several different things,,,
I'll try to clarify:
I am drawing a distinction between (a) attacking organisms directly, as
in e.g. attacking fungus or killing bacteria, as is done with
"conventional" (*whose* convention?) medicine's antifungals and
antibiotics, etc. and (b), working as homeopathy does, and also
various other forms of "holistic" healing, via strengthening the
person's *body* (or vital force, or constitution, or immune system, or
whatever), such that the body (or whatever) gets the microorganisms
back into line, utilizing its own innate defenses and homeostatic
mechanisms.

Is that okay so far?
Are you wondering what things I would not have expected?
Well, thinking back...
That higher "potency" means less of the stuff the remedy's made of;
that many pillules do not work better than one (or fraction thereof);
that developing a "cold", or fever, or etc., might be a *good* sign,
not a bad one; that the world itself can seem to change, just from
taking a few (as was done in that time and place) little sugar pills;
that a little bit of "processed 'till there ain't nothin' left in it"
squid ink (or snake venom, or pustule content, or heck, even salt) can
do wonders for ya--I could go on and on and on...

I used to call my homeopath "my favorite witch doctor".
)

Hi Shannon,

I just read your commments on Fungus.
I like to know what level of Homeopathy you have been worked with,
I feel Fungus is only one thing, We must know Location, sensation ,
Modality, age of the person, stress level, How old is he, what is his
present total health condition ....etc.
In Homeopathically we just donot treat , we look at the root cause.
If you sent me more in detail I may be able to give you some help, I had
good response in these type ofI treatment. I am a Homeopath.

Hi Shannon,

No, they are 2 different concepts of how the remedies work, and both
are in the Organon in different, non-contiguous aphorisms.

One concept is that the remedy somehow makes the life force more
competent to fight the disease.

The other is that the remedy sets up a similar "remedy-disease" and
thereby overcomes the original disease. The life force plays no role,
the remedy does it.

In both cases, of course, Hahnemann's concept is that life-force,
original disease and remedy are of dynamic nature. Thus my statement:
the dynamic remedy "attacks" the dynamic disease.

Yes, agreed.
And, because of the way he defines "disease", that is a *different*
thing from saying that the remedy attacks any microorganisms; I think
that is all I was trying to say.

Once I arranged to have gunpowder in potency sprinkled on an agar plate growing gram positive bacteria. Not surprisingly if a life force is needed there was no decrease in growth of bacteria, Jean
