Thanks to everyone who has shared your thoughts on losing friends because of
homeopathy. It helps to know these things do happen, and one just moves on
to look for more compatible friends.



I am fairly committed to the laissez-faire "live and let live" philosophy,
and this friend knows it. She has had no problems agreeing to disagree
about my giving birth at home or not vaccinating my kids. I don't preach my
philosophies at anyone and I don't judge them just as I don't want to be
judged. So far, so good.

The problem with my son is that his illness is very visible. He has severe
failure to thrive (unable to gain weight no matter how much he eats) and
severe eczema (oozing raw sores from head to toe, chest, back, and all
over). As far as my friend knows, I tried homeopathy for months and there
were no apparent improvements that she could see--he was still not growing
and still covered with eczema. So every time she saw him, she just felt
angry that I wasn't taking him to a doctor and taking him instead to a
homeopath she considers to be a dangerous "quack." That was over a year
ago. Now my son is doing much better, so I hoped she would come around.
But she just told me point blank that we weren't going to go back to being
close again.

It isn't just her. I know other friends who are much more open-minded about
alternative medicine, who have tried homeopathy themselves, who have doubts
about my pursuing homeopathy exclusively when he is still so visibly ill.
Even though he is much better now, he is still much much smaller than kids
his age and still covered with eczema (though not as severe). It is a hard
path for people to accept when the healing takes so long to accomplish and
allopathy offers suppression of symptoms immediately.

Thanks again for all your sympathy. I guess I am here partly because I need
to know there are other folks who are interested in cures and true healing,
and not just temporary symptom relief.
