Dear all,

some short comments about aversion to certain food (and small rubrics):

First of all ask youself (and the patient):
- is this really characterizing?
- does he have the aversion to an exaggerated degree?
- is this an aversion to only mushroom or is this an aversion to a
certain feature of this food (slimy, odour etc.?)

Next:
Such a small rubric is NEVER complete.

For those of you using Computer software and have the Encyclopedia
homeopatica or Referenceworks or others:
Go to *Full search* and look for mushrooms aversion (in EH do a right
mouse-click, and add *within 4 words*).

Then you'll get also some cases where this aversion to mushrooms was
mentioned, e.g. Asar, Pseudotsuga, Cycl. Read the cases and see, if this
rubric was relevant there.

But first of all you should be aware:
Mushrooms aren't available on all countries and certainly not all times
of the year. So this rubric is small one of course. People (patients and
provers) will drink water several times every day, but the contact to
mushrooms is really a limited one.

So another reason why not to BASE a case on such a symptom. It's nice if
you find a remedy fitting, and ADDITIONALLY it has the aversion to
mushrooms.

If you are not sure about a rubric, always ask yourself:
- is this symptom easy to be produced in everybody
- is it a characteristic one
- if it's not a morbid symptom: is it expressed in a very definite way?
- has there been an underlying cause (e.g. did an aunt years ago suffer
from a mushroom intoxication and was rbought to the hospital, and the
patient always connects the mushrooms with this emergency ?)

And of course: always bear in mind what needs to be treated......
Just some thoughts,

Best,

Gaby

Thanks for all comments and input. I'm temporarily without software, am rediscovering books, but it's difficult to crossreference in the same way.
I find it can be helpful to look at small rubrics and/or food rubrics to open up more directions in a case that's stuck. This is for a psoriasis patient who was doing very well on Staph for several months and then just stopped responding to the remedy although i tried shifting potencies and different ways of giving the remedy. When I reviewed the case, many of the mental-emotionals had changed. Since then I've given Nat-M and Carc, but to no avail. More recently I gave Pulsatilla. Nothing has shifted as yet with the psoriasis, although it hasn't worsened. However two old symptoms have resurfaced. Returning old symptoms with no improvement in the chief complaint seems iffy unless the old symptoms shift soon. Any input as to how this case should progress?
So I'm looking into some of the small rubrics to see if they open the way to a different track in understanding the case. In addition to the mushrooms aversion, she can't stand coriander (herb, not spice, and I haven't been able to find that), and when she gets sick glands in her abdomen swell. She is extremely closed, and very strongly attached to her family members. Very "nice" but not a doormat. A Calc direction is interesting, as would be a Zinc direction - I'll look into both. Any other ideas welcome!
Vera

Hi Vera,

find that)

With the swelling of glands when she is sick I think you have a
wonderful symptom and good rubrics attached.
Don't know if it's the inguinal or mesenteric glands (or others), but
this should give you a clue how to go on.

Calc of course has that, but at least in the inguinal swelling rubric
there are many others involved, too.

Best,

Gaby
