I've missed a lot of these posts but my own thoughts are
1) it isn't Didi who is on trial here (for want of a better word) but
the use of combination rx - sadly there are many here and elsewhere who
use them
2) they do not add to our understanding of 'what works' because it is
precisely because we DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WORKING that is the problem
3) I find it curious as to why and how combination rx ever came to be -
they represent the bad things, e.g. lazy homeopathy or, worse still,
insecure homeopathy, where we prescribe with a lack of confidence or
knowledge and so, just in case *** rx doesn't work we will add !!! rx
and just to be on the safe side lets throw in ^^^ rx - that should do
it - wow, it did, so combos must be great (oh dear I can here the
dreaded PC arguments looming).
I will agree with Chris that this sort of procedure is insulting to
those who have spent so many years 'doing' homeopathy Hahnemann's way
when there is no need to do it anyone else's way
I think we also have to blame the pharmacies for promoting the use of
combos as they manufacture them as well as some homeopaths but the
demand is there - shame on them
4) combination rx are not the same as alternating rx - in acutes one
might find themselves 'moving' around rx, sometimes in very quick
succession as sx require it but this is not the same as combinations,
where you take a number of pills pretty much all at the same time - and
in chronic cases, one is even more likely to move around rx (either
because the case requires it or through our own lack of understanding
of the case and the medicines involved)
5) I doubt that these posts will stop Didi or anyone else from using
combos but as I understand it, this list is not available to promote
such practice - there simply isn't a need for it. To be desperate for
homeopathy to work, take the case of the individual and prescribe
accordingly, it is as simple as that - even in an epidemic you would
have to speedily get similar sx from each person to confirm a single
useful rx - so please do not promote insecure homeopathy. Best wishes
to all, Joy
