As with so many other conditions, opacity of the lens is indicated by numerous remedies, which includes the remedies we corresponded about earlier, Sul. and Bell. But there are more specific indicators that may point to a more specific remedy.

Pre-surgery homeopaths used to treat cataracts with some success, but it was a long and complicated process, in my understanding. You'd probably find some mention of it in the older texts (not materia medica but case reports).

It also depends at which stage you start the treatment and the cause of the cataract.

My own cataracts are the result of UV trauma, as I did not protect my eyes properly (polarised glasses) when arriving in NZ where the level of UV is very high, even though I did not have any other problems from the sun due to my heavy loading in antioxidants and correct nutrition. I do not get sunburned....

In retrospect, the first symptoms I can relate to cataracts started about 7 years ago, with increased sensitivity to glare and light reflection from the sea....did not pay attention for a few years until I needed a change in prescription and was told then I had starting cataracts aka "age-related"....wish I had started immediately, but then did not do any local treatment until 3 years ago when they became really annoying.
Nothing to change in my diet, core remedy and miasmatic treatment were in process, so only local treatment was added in the form of Cineraria Maritima drops, vitamin C, DMSO and N-Acetyl-Cystein drops, all of them checked in the literature (do a Pubmed search, quite a few references). I had the drops made at a compounding pharmacy in Australia, very expensive.
My ophthalmologist and the optometrist were very supportive and interested......I am now 5 weeks after right cataract surgery, as the 3 years of intensive treatment did not change anything, the damage was done and irreversible.
Now saving $$$ for the L side.....

Morality: the earlier you start an intensive, combined treatment, the better your chances to succeed.

No regrets, though, the whole process was a real learning experience.

Why?
As a matter of principle: Should not the homeopath know more than the client about a maintaining cause that creates symptoms for which they want the homeopath's help.

I am only suggesting - that when a client says something that one does not know anything about - google is seconds away as is Pubmed and other resources, to find out more and better understand the problem, and thus be able to help the right problem.

I have stayed away from fish oils because of my genotype(explorer). Maybe it
doesn't matter with just the oils. Like I don't think salmon is good for me or
mackeral....(or it is a black dot.) Nevertheless, I just drank some EVO right
out of the bottle. Tasted like liquid salad. Remember about two years ago or
so there was some woman in Italy who drank a half a cup of EVO a day all her
life and she is 120 years old. Anyway, the opth person said I had just
beginning cataracts, that I had 5 to 7 years before I'd need surgery. But the
idea that cataracts are a kind of rust is so repulsive..I might just have to
give up milk chocolate. BUT...the weird thing....is that I gave up Hershey
bars about a month ago...I still eat one once in a while. But after stopping
the Hershey bars...that is when my vision problems got much much worse. And
I've always been of the school that at a certain age one should be very
careful about giving anything up cold turkey so I should have known better.

Anyway, I appreciate all the information. Has anyone read the book..70 years
of clinical experience repertory? I just ordered off amazon for 2.00. There
were a lot of copies..read about it on Hpathy.com archives

I use 6 caps a day and know it in a hurry if I do not.
(I'm also explorer type and nowhere is there any reason to avoid fishoil as an explorer or as any other type either. Fish oil is extracted fish fat - no fish protein or other chemical componenets in there.)

You can also choose to use krill oil instead and you can pick and choose the fish oil you use. It coems in many types from many different fish.
It's hard to get enough IMO - we are so brainwashed against fats
Why?
Chocolate is a strong anti-oxidant. If you want something decadent, chocolate is the way to go, the darker the better, but it all has antioxidants.

Suggest: Test how the suggestions of genotype/bloodtype work for you - you WILL find exceptions where you are the other way round. Your body knows better than D'Adamo - he himself says the findings each apply to MOST people. SO it is a good place to start - and most things are valid - but find YOUR set of proven useful ones.

why give up chocolate. I will only east Non-Gmo, very dark 65-75% cocoa.
I also ensure it is organic, and hopefully Fair Trade which is easy to find in
any HFS and may supermarkets these days.
Hershey’s is not good quality in my book.

But when a patient tells you that was what the consultant said I don’t tend to J!!!! Maybe I should know better after all these years.

Good points - I had a head start in verifying things - as a consultant told my mom I'd be dead in 2 yrs (by age 15) if I did not do what he said. I have yet to do what he said.
My confidence in the medical profession went west right then, and has not returned, with rare exceptions.
