Also, it seems that the School of Homeopathy program is quite rigorous,
and I think longer than BIH's.

To get a certificate (which gives no legal standing in the US, but does
give evidence of training and competency) you have to have sufficient
clinical portion. Some distance learning schools make arrangements for
students to obtain this by doing the first years thru correspondence,
but the final year in-person, something like four days a month, or ???
I don't know details, but you can probably find out on the websites, or
by phoning. Now that HomeopathicSymposium has got going, I think that
is also considered adequate for (some or all?) of the clinical
requirement. The more you can do in-person, and mentored, and at the
side of an experienced prescriber, the better!!!!

I'm a distance student at Caduceus Institute in California and live across the US in West Virginia. Although there is a "go read a book" component, most of the study is much more interactive. I've learned through a combination of videos, written material (both reading and writing) and telephone conferences. Most valuable are the clinical sessions, which do require travel to CA.

I agree with Melanie. I graduated from Caduceus Institute, and found the
instruction excellent and a wonderful preparation for practice, as I've said
several times on this list.
