Veratrum Album

Post by Jean Doherty »

Rochelle, another thing. I have had the understanding ,[someone may correct
this], that the pathology in Veratrum is to do with position in society.
That seems to be the case here . The child is usurping the father's
position.. I believe as well as the right remedy the Mother needs a lot of
counselling and parent effectiveness techniques examined. Jean

Hi Jean,
You are so right and I have told her that we are going to have to work
together on this. She has apparently been to Parenting classes before!!! The
main thing as I see it, having brought up 2 myself, is that the child has to
learn to adapt to the parents lives not the parents give in to everything
the child wants. I have told her that she is to insist on what she and her
husband want to do rather than what the child wants to do and she can put
the child out of the room if he screams and do EFT on herself with a set up
on "Although O. is screaming, I know he is safe"!!!! (For details of EFT see
www.emofree.com or my website) There have been times when the y have wanted
to go out somewhere for the day and the child has screamed that he doesn't
want the car seat to go in Daddy's car etc. It is not a fear but just being
awkward.

Regards,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle, you haven't sent us the full case regarding this child but
maybe, just maybe this is SANICULA - have a look at this remedy. I also
think that there was a good case written up in The Homeopath (gosh, probably
a few years ago now, if you can locate it). But it could well be the remedy.

I also feel we should tread carefully when advising our clients about
matters regarding their life style - even if we are specialists in many
subjects it can become judgemental and confusing. I think our best work is
done in such a manner that, in this particular case, the whole family,
including the father, comes for Homeopathic treatment - just my opinion.

Best wishes, Joy.

Dear Joy,
I haven't posted the full case of the child as I feel at the moment the
Pulsatilla has improved things. He is not as clingy and uses the tummy ache
excuse to not go to nursery school less frequently!! What he will be like
after this acute that was treated with bell. I don't know. After the
original acute he came with China got his energy back however I feel that
the Puls.should still be acting as it was a 200C a fortnight before.

Re what I have pasted below from you I have a big problem in that I don't
feel it is my business to suggest that father also comes to see me. I would
far rather it came from them. Once I have improved Mum and son then maybe he
will come off his own accord. I have no problem in helping in a restricted
way with Mum's problems in parenting which have come from her , not me, as
being a fully qualified Master Practitioner in Meridian Therapies and
insured with the SoH for it, I feel I can help her with this. It is her who
states the problem and then I help her work on it to re-empower her which is
what it is all about. I only use M.Therapies with homeopathy though not on
its own except when I am conducting a Workshop in EFT.

I will add Sanicula to the Verat and Tarant to study before he comes in
next. I think I might have that article you are referring to.

Regards,
Rochelle

Hi, Rochelle --

You might recommend Dr. Douglas Riley's book *The Defiant Child.* He sees oppositional behavior as a warped survival strategy, but it's something parents need to get a handle on a.s.a.p., if they don't want to be at the mercy of an immature little tyrant. His advice may strike some as extreme (meaning it requires work on the parents' part), but his approach is very useful -- and it gets good results.

Peace,
Cinnabar
