syphilinum

Post by bored_chick »

one of the traits of the syphilinum remedy from what I have read is, asymmetrical facial features. Im wondering if a homeoapth gave this remedy once to a person who they felt needed syphilinum will the crooked facial features move back into place??
or on the otherhand if this remedy was given to someone who did not need it, would it cause asymmetrical features to happen?
weird question I know but still just wonderin

I doubt that either has ever occurred. My guess would be that this is actually a note of a consequence of syphilis itself, probably in the unborn or in a developing child.

I have read in minutus list itself (or is it homeolist?) within the last ten years of such a usage. I think it was of a calf having a disfigured (asymmetric ?) face. It was prescribed with Syph 10 m. If I remember well, it was Shannon who prescribed and posted in the list

It's also a keynote of syphilitic *miasm* (and the "blue" remedies, in Grant's system).

I assume that if the remedy were (needed and) given to a growing child, the asymmetry would be righted as they grow. But I can't imagine it would affect the set structure of an adult.

Yes, that was me. Her issue wasn't asymmetry (at least not that I noticed), but she had a cleft palate; when she drank, the milk came out of her nose. And she had chronic / relapsing pneumonia and deformed hooves, plus was overall just the sorriest, most pathetic little thing emotionally. Several other remedies hadn't touched it, and antibiotics held the pneumonia at bay only briefly.

After the syph 10M, she changed just HUGELY, literally overnight. She got strong, content, friendly and curious; eventually food stopped coming out of her nose, no more pneumonia, and her legs straightened over time.

She needed a couple more doses over very long intervals (year-plus?). It was So Interesting!!!! And I keep coming back to that, wishing I could find more syphilinum cases, because I am certain it's a remedy worth knowing better.

Hm, re-thinking, maybe she did have asymmetry of her head also; I'll bet that's what made me start thinking of syph. Sorry, it was a long time ago.

That's amazing, how did you decide on 10M?
I was thinking of using Syph as an antimiasmatic intercurrent in my Platina case where there is lower spinal degradation evolving since Plat is said to be in the syphilitic miasm and antispsoric but the case became a Puls, likely constitutional, and is not considered an antipsoric by Hahnemann though listed as antimiasmatic but not antisyphilitic in some of the miasm books

There are numerous reports of facial features becoming less pronounced over time with homeopathic treatment when it is commenced in infancy or childhood.

I know David Little once spoke of adults he saw in India with Downs syndrome who had greatly reduced facial features - and other symptoms - if homeopathic treatment had been started at an early age.

i would imagine the origin of many strange facial irregularities would be muscular, which is easy to fix.

But to have severe irregularities in an infant, even a fetus? How could muscular effects be the cause there? In some cases the irregularity is in the skull itself; I don't think the scalp has muscles strong enough to conceivably deform the skull, would it?

Surely it's not primarily muscles that guide fetal structural development?
