I agree with this principle Fran, but the link is not a good one.
Anonymous internet reports by peope, who were not resewarchers, are usually hype mopre than valid.
Here's a good link to use instead:
http://www.scielo.br/scielo.php?script= ... so&tlng=en
This formal research shows that calcium supplements REDUCE incidence of calcium kidney stone, unless the calcium is over 22150mg per day.
If you add Vit D, then the stones risk goes WAY down compared even to people not taking supplements.

Namaste,
Irene

I think the Australian Doctor news service and Menopause Journal would find it humorous that you think of them as an "anonymous news report". :)

BY definition if the news repoert does not say at the title line "by so and so" (or at the end of the report or anywhere visible) then it is by definition anonymous.
It is a report - and not a research paper as I posted.
There is a difference, one is factual, the other is an opinion about the facts.
Namaste,
Irene

I am not aware that "tingling" when applying Mag oil is an indication of anything other than it being normal to experience a tingling sensation when you first start using it.

Start with 6 to 8 squirts a day and building up to as many as 20. Magnesium oil at some point will loosen your stool, so the test to determine how much you need to apply is to simply watch your bowel movements. If they turn too loose, then back off the magnesium a little.

Best,
Lynn

I had a *really* interesting "potassium experience" a few decades ago -- aided beautifully by my homeopath stepping "outside the box" with really great practical thinking.

I was working with both my wonderful homeopath, and also an equally wonderful chiro, for a wide variety of short-term and long-term issues. (They knew all about each other, and were each tolerant of my "mixology", and kept informed.) At one point the chiro decided (I believe correctly) that I had a yeast problem, and put me on an herbal supplement for that, additionally counseling to avoid sweet foods, even fruit.

I forget some of the "what happened" in between, but one night realized that my heart was beating really bizarrely, slow and stumbling, like it couldn't figure out what to do. Called my homeopath and described what was happening. She came quickly to the conclusion that I'd been taking a diuretic (true, but I hadn't known it) and become potassium depleted. But she said don't use tablets, use fruit, especially bananas and oranges. I don't know why she said not tablets; I suppose she just didn't know what dosage to say? Not sure.

So I overcame my "but that will feed my yeasts!" reaction, and moved to the fruit bowl. And do you know, by the end of a half banana I was feeling better, and a few pieces of fruit later I felt almost back to normal. Getting *fully* over it took longer than that, but I was basically over it by the end of that day, at least that's how I remember it.

So -- just weighing in with my anecdotal advice to not underestimate the potassium power of plain ol' fruit.
Vicki, do I remember right that fruit causes trouble for you? Then try green veggies, try veggie juice. Lots of greens (lettuce, celery, spinach is a good base; add some parsley and other dark greens for more firepower), and a little carrot for flavor? Do you do any veggie juice?

Dear Rochelle,

Older person = magnesium supplementation. It is as simple as that. Magnesium is involved with so many reactions (325 and counting) that it would be a little difficult to know exactly what to expect, except that improvements of some sort are almost guaranteed.

I am not doing it for pain but as a supplement for an older person who has Type 2 inherited diabetes controlled on a low carb/low GI diet and exercise. However what I saw this morning – a lower blood sugar reading than usual- makes me wonder if this was caused by the magnesium oil!! I used 6 sprays altogether yesterday.

If you have pain, and have not noticed a great decrease from spraying with magnesium oil, then either you did not use enough, or you are not magnesium deficient. Not being magnesium deficient is highly unlikely if you are an older person. I would trying 10 sprays and rub it around and see what happens. Don't be afraid of experiment. If you do what I do with making your own, it will be so inexpensive that using too much won't be an issue.

My Magnesium oil arrived to day just in time as I finished my last tablet yesterday. I used 3 sprays after my shower and no tingle so I take it I am not depleted in it ? Question is what would make me want to do more sprays?

You might achieve a homeopathic effect with the Magnesium and have them firm up. :-)

More likely she was aware that the FDA only allows 99mg in a tablet/capsule.
You can get 500mg from a banana:-)

Not necessarily Roger. My friend overdid it w/magnesium in the bath water. She almost died and was in the hospital for 15 days. She has been home for probably 2 weeks and is not about to do anything.

I think her case is of the E X T R E M E. However, I mention it becasue it happened to my very dear friend.

Also, as an update to the conversation yesterday about my potassium and magnesium. He told me culturing the raw coconut water was okay, but that he prefers that i juice the fresh vegetables. So I will drink my DELICIOUS cultured raw coconut water and I'm developing a kind of "common sense" plan and a grocery shopping list.

Thanks all for the great discussion. I'll be writing a homeopathy question later tonight. I hope you will be able to help my friend.

Vicki

What did she do, to get such an extreme result?
