Prevent/Reverse Diabetes Summit FREE ONLINE 5/5-16 Do Carbs Cause Alzheimers? Maintaining Diet Causes Inflammation

Post by healthinfo6 »

David Perlmutter, MD, a neurologist, has a current NY Times bestselling book, Grain Brain, where he claims carbs cause Alzheimers including "healthy" carbs like whole grains, fruit, below ground root veggies. Quite radical though he has not been attacked so far. Rather it appears mainstream is searching for answers from someone they deem credible to come forth and rescue them from the health mess they created. Will Dr. Perlmutter be embraced as the new savior?
Dr. Perlmutter has been on TV and websites basically saying ALL carbs are bad, first relating to Alzheimers but then goes further.
Here, Dr. Perlmutter is on Dr. Oz TV show, a highly popular USA health advocate, cardiovascular surgeon, Oprah helped him get started on TV on her show. While Dr. Oz is an allopath, he does promote many alternative health topics and is very open in mentioning to his audiences to consider them. He's had shows about homeopathy with Canadian homeopath Andre Saine's wife, Lisa Samet, ND and the NCH. He's constantly appears on USA women's and health magazine covers and has his own new health magazine.

In the second part, Dr. Perlmutter states how ADHD children taken off of many carbs and given more fats improved in school quickly along with cognitive improvements in adults.
Dr. Perlmutter, Dr Mark Hyman, who also has a current NY Times bestseller, The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet along with 50 global lifestyle experts will be presenting on the web from May 5-16 at the Preventing and Reversing Diabetes World Summit 2014. Each day's presentations are available for 24 hours to watch at your leisure.
Personally, an Atkins no/low carb dieter for 40 years having lost 60 lbs in 1975 when discovering his first book, Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution, became a patient of his, I already know how good fats and bad carbs are for me and glad to see focus starting to shift back to eating more healthy fats and less carbs after decades of fat phobia with obesity and diabetes rising sharply. My blood cholesterol and triglycerides are lower when I eat lots of fats, when I eat carbs, they go higher. My constitution along with an inherited severe form of type 2 diabetes including strong insulin resistance and a less than desirable VLDL profile (your LDL is composed of 9 or more VLDL sizes, good to bad, and are inherited) is helped by being on a ketogenic diet where one goes into a state of benign dietary ketosis, not to be confused with ketoacidosis that an uncontrolled type 1 diabetic with very high blood glucose may have which is dangerous. The Atkins Diet is often mislabeled a high protein diet, actually it is a moderate protein diet, higher protein inhibits ketosis while fat promotes it. One can look at all the various Atkins products, meals, snacks, shakes to see they are not high in protein but higher in fat.
Dr. Perlmutter identifies in his book the key role that ketone bodies play in various aspects of our health, especially brain health. And that some of the most common foods consumed in our diet–namely whole grains, sugar, starch and other culprit carbohydrates–are the very things that are robbing our bodies of adequate ketone production to thrive as our bodies were intended though he is not promoting a ketogenic diet for weight loss.
Having an ongoing problem myself with high C-Reactive Protein, a blood test that measures overall inflammation in one's body. I've read about consuming more omega 3's and had taken fish oil capsules and occasional flaxseed oil. Only quite recently when I started using larger amounts of flaxseed oil, 1/4 to 1/2 cup per day for omega 3 fats and more fish oils for EPA/DHA did suddenly my C-RP blood test move lower from a high of 9 to 4, still high but a vast improvement after only one month. At the same time I feel much better when eating grass fed beef, buffalo (naturally grass fed) vs. commercial beef, which is grain fed thus has high omega 6 fat due to being corn fed along with mostly now GMO corn. It's a recent concept just beginning to reach mainstream conventional MDs that many of our health problems are due to long term inflammation which is due to too much omega 6 in processed foods where safflower, sunflower and other high omega 6 refined oils are used in products widely consumed, potato chips, roasted nuts, baked goods, fast food, fried foods, etc. Humans don't produce omega 3 thus need to supplement.
In addition, I've found delicious butter and kefir made from grass fed milk at Trader Joe's and my local supermarket. It would be difficult to drink these large amounts of flaxseed oil, it makes me nauseous and gives me a headache, but mixing it into cottage cheese, kefir, yogurt allows me to consume much more of it without these side effects I definitely notice feeling better with less aches, pains, puffy eyes when I wake up, which is due to high inflammation and now have blood tests results to prove it.
I've been seeing homeopaths and using homeopathic remedies for 19 years in a quest to ultimately cure my miasmatic and genetic disease inheritances. They say one has to kiss many frogs to find their prince, and I had to visit many homeopaths and suffer aggravations, ameliorations and palliations before understanding how to follow on my own what Hahnemann has provided and his advanced methods of C potency water dosing and LM potencies. Homeopathic miasmatic disease concepts are complex and true mastery is an ongoing process, only a couple of years ago I began to better grasp them, so even the most well meaning homeopaths through either laziness, haphazardness or their own limitations or biases may not fully embrace and correctly use or ignore them in practice.
While I take one daily LM homeopathic remedy, currently LM24 antispsoric alternating with an LM12 antimiasmatic to address the underlying miasmatic influences and current symptoms including keeping me drug free after 35 years usage for a 2nd genetically inherited disease, it's only recently that I recognized the maintaining causes helped by diet changes that have vastly improved my overall energy levels and lowered inflammation.
Homeopathy can only work best when all parts of one's life are addressed.
That includes diet and for me aerobic exercise and moderate muscle building.
Hahnemann wrote about diet including eating beef but surely had no idea what we would be faced with today in food choices laced with chemicals, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, preservatives, dyes, and commercial grain fed beef. It takes conscious effort and extra $$$ to eat clean and healthier where cheaper is widely available and affordable. Thankfully organic and grass fed are becoming more available and at times affordable as interest increases.
It's middle age where one feels their aging, begins to reflect on one's mortality and also where latent psora, as Hahnemann describes in great detail in Chronic Diseases, makes a forceful appearance if you're predisposed. Here's where urinary incontinence, vertigo attacks, and many other signs of ageing and latent psora appear, It's where one's inherited diseases and miasmatic progressions rise up. Alzheimers, Parkinsons, type 2 diabetes to name a few common ones, many may also be exacerbated by years of inflammation.
I'd like to recognize and thank Roger Bird who posts on various health issues. A recent topic prompted me to relook at information I knew about but just overlooked over the years as I focused mainly on homeopathy. It's due to his posts on Johanna Budwig's flaxseed and cottage cheese "cure" and on magnesium did I rethink and take action. His most recent one on gut bacteria also informative since I have inherited dysbiosis issues and take many probiotics.
I also want to greatly thank Kari Kindem, who embraces all of what Hahnemann represents in being a classical homeopath. She fully understands miasmatic theory and uses it in practice to treat difficult cases. She also incorporates lesser known homeopathic methods, like bowel nosodes, which addresses gut bacteria and disease, along with modern techniques like genetic testing and multidisciplinary health concepts, like detox, to obtain extraordinary results while adhering to Hahnemann classical homeopathy. She has a unique ability to advance classical homeopathy into the modern age by addressing the toxic loads today's patients come to homeopathy with while simultaneously treating their inherited miasmatic predispositions all under the umbrella of classical homeopathy I have gained much insight and made advances in my own treatment due to her benevolent advice. Just recently her info on genetic testing prompted me do research into Vitamin D and I found there are 2 genes involved with Vitamin D production and calcium.. I never connected my own subnormal Vitamin D levels, even when living in Miami with much sun exposure, I had low levels, to having a father who solely had rickets when young in a large family, that most likely I have a genetic issue with vitamin D and have recently increased my intake of it. Still in progress, that too may be involved with diabetes and overall health and I notice energy increases and generally feeling better. Kari's work is groundbreaking as she combines the latest ideas in epigenetics, how environment influences genetic expression with Hahnemann, who integrated the importance of one's overall health habits as part of classical homeopathy.
In a synchronistic way, Kari has come to me when I'm at a crossroads and on her website is "Let Miracles Find You!".
She truly is a miracle!
It's said you dig your grave with a knife and fork, it really is true! I'll include spoon and drinks.
Everything we consume today needs to be examined to see if it is having an adverse affect on our health in both subtle and overt ways.
