Looking for ideas for what the docs are saying is a bladder burned several years ago by radiation for prostate cancer treatment. He passes some blood in his urine, has pain and burning, so I have used Canth, which brings some relief. But I'm looking for something that might be more specific about the damaged tissues.
The husband has brain damage from trauma - after the prostate event -, and undoubtedly also damage from the various drugs and treatments for the traumatic brain injury. I was not there to treat him previously. He is somewhat incontinent, mostly at night, but this is constant and seems unrelated to the present bladder issue. The wife, my friend, wants now to treat this naturally, and is listening to me about all aspects including homeopathic treatment. I am sure there is a lot of permeability in his tissues throughout, and this is just a visible expression of it.
All ideas appreciated, thank you.

Do look at Rad Brom.

Re: Internal radiation damage
Hi, Ginny
For tissue damaged by radiation, Radium bromatum or X-ray are usually advised. (Of course, it's best to use homeopathy as close to the time of conventional treatment as possible. Not sure how much repair will come about after all this time.)
Be damned sure the doctors know what they're talking about! I have a friend diagnosed with supposed "radiation cystitis" a couple of years after radiation for prostate cancer. It turned out to be bladder cancer.
Peace,
Dale

Thanks, Dale!
Yes, cancer is one of their great concerns. It seems minor enough right now, and the docs are calling it radiation cystitis. I view cancer as a sliding scale of escalating symptoms in any case, and would simply choose to nurture the life force so that what they would call cancer is obviated or at least mitigated to the point where it cannot be so labeled:)

Re: Internal radiation damage
Radiation cystitis can evolve into cancer, after all irradiation is carcinogenic....the more reason to follow that situation closely.

Re: Internal radiation damage
Does the blood in the urine come in the first part or last? What do you mean "brain damage?" I'd be wary of prescribing on what allopaths think is the cause. What other symptoms are there?

Re: Internal radiation damage
He fell off a ladder two years ago and was comatose for a couple of weeks. He has come further than any of the docs thought, but he needs a lot of help, and moves very slowly and carefully. He understands everything, has a sense of humour, but is slow to speak and has few words. We think he's in there somewhere and just has trouble getting it out. He is a bit childish, has strong wants and dislikes, and some days are better than others. He is very sweet:)
The docs say this is common cystitis from radiation he had some 3-4 years ago. He has pain while urinating, except in the night when he is diapered. The blood passes early in the stream, anywhere from a drop to only a pinkish tinge in the flow. He was diagnosed and treated with ABX for a "bladder infection" some time back. The docs are not advising that course presently. There are no concomitant acute symptoms, and generally his health is good. He is getting a few prescription meds, but I don't know what.
Thank you for your interest, John.

Re: Internal radiation damage
Hi Ginny,
You're welcome. Thanks for sharing. Based on the symptoms listed I'd first compare two remedies, Conium and Phosphorus. Blood in the first part of the urine indicates only one remedy, Con. Foolish behavior, slowness and burning indicates both Con. and Phos. Bladder inflamation, Con.
With what you've listed so far I'd guess Con., dizziness lying down, moving the head or eyes, wants head still. Urine flows first full stream, stops, flows again, stops again. < by moving the head, turning head sideways, dizzy lying down in bed, turning over, locomotor ataxy, when walking can't turn head sideways without staggering or falling. Can't turn over in bed without being dizzy.
Other remedies to compare, Calc., Sep.
best wishes,
John
