The Truth About Tamiflu Is Slowly Coming Out
Dear Reader,
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Clinical trials are not what they appear to be… or at least NOT when it comes to the published results of clinical trials.
Last year, clinical trial transparency crusader Dr. Ben Goldacre wrote about the underhand tactics of Big Pharma in very simple terms in a New York Times article. He said that if you flip a coin, but hide it every time it comes up tails, it looks like the result is always heads.
That's exactly what drug companies do with most of their studies. Dr. Goldacre added that Big Pharma only reports on about half of their research... and I can assure you that there's no good news in those unreported trials.
Always heads... never tails
The drug Tamiflu should be familiar to most of our readers. It's the antiviral drug that supposedly shortens the duration of the flu. In the wake of the fake Swine Flu epidemic many governments, including the UK and US, spent billions on Tamiflu doses.
The Swine Flu epidemic turned out to be a farce... and as for Tamiflu... well, in 2012, a Tamiflu researcher wrote in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) that all countries that invested in stockpiles of the drug should demand their money back.
The Tamiflu business stank to high heaven from the onset. To begin with, two ghost-writers admitted to 'writing' several Tamiflu studies... embezzling and fabricating the truth under the instruction to embed a pro-Tamiflu message in their work.
As soon as this came to light, world-renowned Cochrane researchers reopened their review of Tamiflu's clinical studies. But Roche, the maker of Tamiflu, refused to hand over all the trial data. This led to BMJ editors saying that until Roche delivers all the data, there's no evidence that Tamiflu actually works.
You see, back in the 1990s Roche ordered (and funded) at least eight studies on Tamiflu. And when the results came in, they essentially locked them in a vault — a classic example of Dr. Goldacre's coin-flipping heads and tails metaphor.
Now, finally after mounting pressure, Roche allowed a group of experts to have a 'peek' at those locked-away results. And what they saw was a shock, but not much of a surprise.
Even though Tamiflu promises a shorter, easier flu, these hidden studies showed that:
• Tamiflu does not reduce the chances of someone who gets the flu from developing more serious complications.
• For elderly and ill patients, ones who can have a higher risk of complications, Tamiflu was ineffective.
• Tamiflu reduced the duration of symptoms by as little as a day.
With more pressure on the company to offer up even more unseen documents, who knows what will come out?
When I read stuff like this, all I can do is shake my head... with the outbreak of the so-called Swine Flu epidemic in 2009, we warned everybody about the dangers of Tamiflu (and about the fact that this drug was never properly tested). Back then, we were accused of scaremongering...
5 years later and the truth is trickling out in the mainstream like a slow dripping tap. Guess what? It's too late to do anything about it now. Tamiflu has done its damage. Common side effects of this drug include nausea and vomiting (just like actual flu!). In children, Tamiflu can cause seizures, confusion, and "abnormal behaviour."
Not surprisingly, Tamiflu is still on the market... and if you still don't believe what we've been saying all along, then perhaps the BMJ editors will convince you... because they too can't find a compelling reason why you should take this drug.

... and another thing
If you've experienced haemorrhoids, you'll know it can be one of the most painful things ever. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), about 50 per cent of the population above the age of 50 has had haemorrhoids. The good news is you can help prevent haemorrhoids with some simple steps:
Keep your bowels moving: Fibre helps relieve constipation and straining that can cause or worsen haemorrhoids. Start by eating plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, or take psyllium seed husks in any of the forms available in chemists and health food stores. Another healthy option is freshly ground flaxseed. Supplemental magnesium can also help sluggish bowels.
Avoid dietary irritants: This includes strong spices such as red pepper and mustard, and drinks such as coffee (caffeinated or decaf) and alcohol, all of which can inflame the lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
Drink lots of water: This will help lower friction in the bowels and help maintain a soft stool consistency.
Get regular exercise: This will help promote optimal bowel function and digestive health.
Avoid prolonged sitting: Sitting for long periods of time has been linked to haemorrhoids.
Manage your stress: Consider learning and practicing a relaxation technique. Unhealthy stress can lead to GI issues by disturbing the balance of the nervous system, which controls bowel function.
Consider natural remedies: Triphala, a combination of three bowel-tonifying herbs from the ayurvedic tradition, can help support bowel health. You might also try taking one teaspoon of liquid aloe vera after meals.
Here's to healthy living,
