hello everyone! i'd love to get some help on a remedy selection.
i don't know if your families think of you as a quack, the way mine does me...but if so, you probably understand that i am quite anxious to help my dad, who has (first time ever) asked me for a remedy to help his wrist injury heal. i've tried three already and nothing's worked.
about 4-5 mos ago, he fell, while playing with my daughter. he used the wrist to break the fall, so it was flexed. it hurt quite a lot at the time and i gave him a bunch of doses of Arnica, and then Ruta. neither seemed to do much. it improved over the months but he still has pain. he's been to the doc and had an xray. no fracture apparent. this injury is the only thing wrong with my dad, who's 70, so the doctor basically shrugged and said, get used to it.
i asked him a bunch of questions about what makes it better or worse. he hasn't used hot or cold compresses so he didn't know. it WAS helped by wrapping it tightly with a bandage, but he didn't like the inconvenience of having something on him, so he took it off. storms have no effect. massage, he does not know, hasn't tried it.
it is an achey pain, not sharp. it often wakes him up in the middle of the night. besides this, the only time he has pain is when he flexes the wrist and pushes something, which recreates the motion of the original injury. besides that, no pain, but the wrist feels weak most of the time.
i misinterpreted something he said last week and i gave him Rhus, which proved ineffective. not sure how many tries he's going to give me before he gives up and i have to walk away feeling a failure! i think the key indicator here is that it wakes him up in the middle of the night, however, i can't actually find that. i do see Extremities, wrist, pain wakes him in the middle of the night, in my Complete rep, however it's Mez and Dros only listed. i'm not sure what to do with these as i don't think of them as injury remedies and i guess i assume they're in the rep from another diagnostic cause....maybe i'm wrong. please advise?
thanks so much!

Re: help for injury remedy
Deep injuries often respond to Bellis Perrenis. Do some reading on it to see if it fits the picture.
Also, what potencies did you use? Did you see any benefit from the Arnica or Ruta? If so, maybe
do up in potency. For example, I use Rhus V for my poison ivy every year. This year even 1M didn’t
do much and finally ordered some 10M which worked pretty quickly. What caused this difference
this year, I have no idea but everything in the garden is different and the weather is so upside down
and impacted by increasing chem trails—who knows. But that higher potency got it for me.

Yes Bellis and Symph works well - T. you are soo right this year all seems to be a little upside down - but I find myself getting higher potencies 1ML - always used 30C but this year
Definitely Not Ruta - but try Arnica 6C and a very high dose - Arnica increases blood flow and bones often do not heal well if there is not enough blood flow (aged people) Bellis does essentially the same.

Re: help for injury remedy
(First, what potencies did you use, of both arnica and ruta -- sometimes just a change in potency is needed.)
Have you questioned him very closely to see if *anything* else has changed during the time since -- and also the time just before -- the injury? You mention waking in the middle of the night. Has that definitely begun only since the injury?
Any other changes to sleep, dreams, mood, food preferences, thirst? Make sure you are *not* only looking for physical effects directly from the injury, but you are looking for *anything* that might have changed during this time.
Also ask about what had been going on for him in the hours or days (perhaps even weeks) just prior to the injury. Anything other than the humdrum of life, internal or external?
How does he *feel* about the injury and its effects? How does it affect him, other than the discomforts and sleep and alterations to use usage of it? Does he feel frustrated or resigned or ?, or is he simply taking it in stride and waiting it out?
Is his response to the injury well in line with his responses to "life in general" (and how would you describe that -- either or both?)

Re: help for injury remedy
This sounds like a really bad sprain, which would explain the amelioration from tight bandaging.
I would suggest you look at Bryonia first; if that doesn't work, try Kali-c., which I've used for sprains that are intractable. He might also benefit from the type of splint used for carpal tunnel, to be worn at night.
Peace,
Dale
