Constipation cure?
Hi,
I have failed to cure my own constipation with homeopathy. I think constipation is what we call a "maintaining cause." That is, better health due to homeopathic treatment is not possible as long as you continue to have some unhealthy other condition.
I know one professional homeopath reply to the above statement is self-cure of chronic conditions is very difficult. I agree, Still I have succeeded with lots of problems. But not with constipation.
I think that the constipation is causing me to be cold all the time. This coldness will ultimately lead to other deeper problems.
I have a daughter with a urinary tract infections who is unwilling to be treated by her mother (because she is an adult and not a child is her logic. Of course, she needs to suffer more so I am just keeping my big mouth shut.) and a homeopathy client with psoriasis that gets worse when constipated. I think in both cases, eliminating the constipation would go a long way toward a cure of other complaints. Mainly because a high load of toxins leads to inflammation.
In my case, as a 65 year old lady with no chronic problems except low blood pressure, the reason of aiming at just eliminating the symptom (constipation) is there is no obvious cause for either constipation or coldness except age.
I have been searching around and it seems that there are a large number of causes for constipation. Some are important because a serious problem is behind the constipation. But if that is not the case, then curing the symptom is a a good first start. The intestines are stretched out, weak and blocked.
What do others think?
Best,
Ellen

Re: Constipation cure?
My first thought with people is to look at the diet and things that would destroy the gut bacteria.
A good probiotic may be helpful here along with more probiotic type foods (fermented). I have
been successful with several people with these simple suggestions. They will deal with a maintaining
cause if from a general gut health issue.
Also, look to see what sources of GMO’s may be sneaking into your diet. And this includes nutritional
supplements as many are made from GMO corn, etc.

Re: Constipation cure?
Are there?
I am not so sure. At least not common causes.
I see the usual cause as a deficiency of magnesium. I'd eliminate that option first beore looking further.
(No remedy can replace a nutrient!)
Magnesium is not in modern foods in the quantity needed for modern life, so Magnesium supplements are esential - and if you do not take a magnesim suppleent you should simply expect chronic constipation plus the problems caused by the 365 or so other functions of Mg in the body, to be with you all the time
Beware the story that everyone needs more fiber. It is not true. Some constitutional types need LESS fiber, or at least not any from grain. Get it from spinach and other green leaves.
Namaste,
Irene

Re: Constipation cure?
Hi,
I have been taking Irene's and Tamaque's approach for years. But the feeling that I am blocked up remains. Since I did that 24 day water fast, I am much more physically conscious of feeling blocked up in my gut. After the fast and during the fast I did not have that problem. Since I am now eating a lot less, but pretty normally, I feel really like my bowel movements are ineffective. I think the sensitivity is a good outcome of the fast. I think I found out what it feels like to not feel toxic and now, getting blocked again I am really disliking the feeling. It is not a matter of being physically worse because of the fast.
I wrote about a book that I read about constipation. I put it on my blog. Called caringVibes.blogspot.com.tw
According to a GI Doc, diarrhea is a form of constipation. You know all know that. But he says, natural fibers and laxatives will produce, gas, pain and diarrhea if you are severely blocked up. That's me. You have to unblock totally and then gradually introduce the natural stuff. Then you have to take those fibers really dillegently to stay unblocked until you build up muscle strength in the intestines.
If you use natural fibers when you are severely blocked up, you will get those nasty symptoms with heavy doses of a natural good laxative like magnesium. Roger Bird is doing the magnesium through his skin just because his intestines are too blocked to handle the magnesium directly in the gut. I am taking the natural fibers and magnesium 2 times a day which is more than I usually do and I got gas. Have never had gas before, but that is the reaction that the GI Doc predicts. Drinking veggie juices, making green smoothies and still feel rotten.
I am traveling now (my worst condition for constipation) and I brought a mix of magnesium citrate, calcium, flax seed ground and psyllium. My normal use is as needed.
This doc says open up the gut first. Unblock and get a stool flow going so that the muscles can train themselves to work. They are stretched and lax because of the bloating. That means you take a steady flow of fibers.
Yes Irene, he says fibers will cause more backlash if you are already really blocked. Most people are, they are just in denial or insensitive to their toxic state. Everyone is very discouraged by the gut backlash.
The catch is this Doc's GI unblocking program, is he is advocating use of chemically treated fiber that the gut does not recognize as fibers and therefore cannot dissolve them. The gut learns to disolve these intruders within 6 months. Apparently just using these artificial fibers will start the gut bacteria to evolve so it can dissolve them.
If you read the end of this page of responses to his reply
http://www.amazon.com/review/RMEL9AV4KG ... L9AV4KG42V
to someone who had been using an artificial fiber and then tried taking it again with his program and failed, you will see a very negative reply. I copied it below.
Your review was the reason why I didn't get this book as I now believe it to be extremely unhealthy and more importantly damaging to anybody. It gave me an option to see the suggested elements of the program. "Sugar free" means that the product includes an artificial carcinogenic sweetener. Secondly Citrucel is a dangerous food additive E461 processed with poisonous sodium hydroxide. Thirdly Benefiber is the only fiber supplement made with genetically modified wheat dextrine, wheat that is the leading cause of obesity and body pollution in the world today. Thank you!
I am not sure which is worse. A toxic gut or the food additives etc. Someone like me would be using the artificial stuff for a few weeks.

Sometimes, by the way people write on this list, you (read: me) get a
feeling about the person writing, and in this 'case' (Ellen), maybe Rock
Water (Bach), or something similar from other Flower therapy systems,
might do good. Mind you, just from a hunch..

Re: Constipation cure?
That artificial fiber sound postively awful and scarey.
But relying on something artificial or chemical is so typical of the medical industry.
It is still symptom management rather than real cure!!
The one point I agree with is that the bowel has been stretched and inactive for a long time.
It needs to be retrained, just like an unused muscle that has lost its strength and ability to
work. Introducing good fiber back into the diet slowly sounds wise, remembering that some
fiber is necessary to feed the bacteria colonies that you want.

Re: Constipation cure?
I hear you Tamarque. The problem with really severe cases (most people I think) is they can't stand the process of weaning into the natural fibers. I am not that far gone.
The other thing is, even if constipation is the symptom, it does not clear up just because you are eating right. Or even if you are eating fibers all the time which I am and have been for years. Adding natural fibers to your diet needs to go on 2-3 times a day. Magnesium ect as needed. You have to keep the intestines clear for a long enough time for the muscle to get back in shape. A lot of stool like he says 3-5 feet are good results. I guess that's what I learned from this GI Doc.

Not homeopathy....but looking at this in another way you are already familiar with....TCM: I read Cold Syndrome and Stagnation Syndrome, maybe Yang deficiency, yin excess due to Water consumption by Fire....etc....many different possibilities.
You have an acupuncturist, how about asking him to make a TCM diagnosis, and treat you, or it is possible to relate this to homeopathic remedies (with plenty of other information) and get things moving (pun intended).
