Sepia 200 every day for a month
Sorry to be pushing nto this thread but I can't access my account and can only go through the mails.
A friend of mine has been prescribed Sepia 200 every day for a month. How long would it take to start proving a remedy like Sepia and with taking something like that for a month could it be serious.
Kind regards
Angela

I would not make judgements on this prescription. The practitioner must know something
about this woman that you don’t.
FYI, I have taken remedies daily for very long periods, including Carc 200c almost daily for
about 6-7 months. Never a proving, just a waning of the action. This has happened with
several remedies with me. Perhaps a 50M would have been appropriate in my case, but
that is not was done. 200c was a low potency. This is true for me even with many acutes
such a PI where if the case is bad enough a 1M daily was needed to get control of the
condition.
In each individual case!

I would be concerned, but need to know more. And a dry pill? Hahnemann taught that we need to change the potency a little for each subsequent dose.
Are these dry or in water?

I think the biggest thing would be to make sure that she is being well monitored, and that she knows what to be on the lookout for, and to be in touch with the prescriber about anything unexpected or troublesome.
Agreeing with others -- there are circumstances where that would be appropriate; monitoring is important.

but VERY RARE appropriate, if dry.
If water potency as Hahnemann taught in 5th and 6th edition - maybe but more likely would need 12C, 30c or LM

Re: Sepia 200 every day for a month
Thanks to you all for your replies.
The reason why I am concerned is because I don't feel that she is being monitored - she was told to come back after a month, I felt that so much could happen in the meantime and she wasn't told to look out for reactions. She has developed a nasty cough that she said she hadn't had before and it sounded very chesty, she said she also felt very weak and tired, with a fever.
She had taken Sepia 30 every day for a month before the 200 and says that she had no reaction to it, but I know in treating people - not with homeopathy - that patients can at times not recognise reactions unless they are pointed out, most often because they aren't the immediate or dramatic changes they hope for.
She was given an unknown remedy for 2 days before she started the Sepia 200 'to raise her immunity'. I suppose I feel that her doc is not waiting to see what reaction she is having before deciding on the need for daily dosing, but as you say Tamara her doc may see something in the case.
I did ask her to speak again with her doctor and tell her what had developed. Thank you for sharing your experience Tamara and I will check whether dry or in water Sheri.
Kind regards
Angela

Re: Sepia 200 every day for a month
You give a remedy until reaction. When there is reaction you stop and wait. This is basic. In water dosing where the reaction is gradually positive there is room to repeat, but otherwise not. Read the Organon.
I hope the original prescriber gave the instructions in this way - to take the remedy until reaction, Automatic giving of remedies without monitoring reaction, working with individual patient sensitivity, and assessing whether new symptoms require remedy change - is incorrect and in my opinion potentially harmful at most, and case confusing and muddying at least. Again - read the Organon. Not anyone's commentaries on it - the original.

It is not good if the practitioner did not tell her to call if there were any changes/problems or questions.
But homeopaths can share the same hubris that allopaths often exhibit as we all grow up in the same
culture. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Re: Sepia 200 every day for a month
Confirm that this is not a good idea!
A good homeopath needs to watch very carefully what are the reactions to his prescription.
I would have strong concerns that the patient would start to prove the remedy and resolving would be very difficult.
(When training at college we had a woman attend the clinic who had been on Sepia for a long time. Not something I would wish on any one!)

Re: Sepia 200 every day for a month
The same goes with an F series....and the patient is requested to report after each and every potency, by email.
That some chose not to do it is their problem.
Monitoring is an essential part of the treatment, not offering it is borderline malpractice IMO.
