They took the growth gene of a Chinook Salmon and the growth gene of a sea eel to make this Atlantic Salmon grow very fast and very big. They say it's sterile so can't breed if mixed into the wild.
Of course the USA FDA says it is safe, but has not yet approved it. Consumer Union says only 6 fish were used for testing, FDA took much of company's test data as OK. Once approved, there will be no labeling on farmed salmon that it is a Frankenfish.
