That was very interesting!

As an aside, I've also read/heard from at least 2-3 sources that sugar feeds cancer cells. Cancer cells have MANY more insulin receptors than normal cells. So cut out the sugar and refined carbohydrates and that will starve cancer as well.

This is the basis for insulin potentiation therapy in the treatment of cancer. Of course, it's not offered in the U.S. -- too benign! One has to go abroad for it.

In Frans Vermeulen’s “MONERA”, in the discussion on Polio, there is an interesting paragraph on pp. 678-679:
“During one of the worst polio epidemics in North Carolina, USA, in 1948, [Physician and nutritionist Benjamin P.] Sandler set up a one-man campaign consisting of ‘a simple formula for preventing polio: eliminate from the diet sugar and foods containing sugar, and reduce the consumption of foods containing starch.’ His conviction that ‘such a diet, strictly observed, can build up in 24 hours’ time a resistance in the human body sufficiently strong to combat the disease,’ turned out to be correct; within 72 hours polio had declined dramatically and the epidemic was brought under control. By the next year, the polio incidence of North Carolina had dropped 90%. [For a further exploration of the link between polio and sugar see the article The euglycaemic status and infections by Juan Manuel Martinez Mendez in Homeopathic Links 4/02.]
Cutting out all sugars also works wonders when fighting other viruses, including influenza!!
