Ultra Violet Blood Irradiation for Resistant Bugs

Dr.Robert Rowen,MD in his newsletter Second Opinion www.secondopinionnewsletter.com of January 2012 writes about the more widespread circulation of drug resistant infections or "superbugs" that are not responsive to currently available antibiotic treatments. Big Pharma admits it has nothing that is effective and their are few antibiotics in their pipeline and most of those are "me too" antibiotics that are not expected to be that different from those already marketed. Unfortunately it is much more profitable for big pharma to develop new drugs that have to be taken continuously for a lifetime such as high blood pressure medicines or anti-diabetes medications.
At one time these infections were confined to hospitalized patients exposed to rare hospital infections, now they have escaped to the general population.
The solution will come from the use of an old therapy that has been rarely used and forgotten by modern medicine. Decades ago many hospitals used Ultra Violet Blood Irradiation (UVBI) therapy to treat both viral and bacterial infections with great success. They regularly cured some of the worst infections, after only 1 or 2 treatments. With the advent of antibiotics these fell into disuse except for those few integrative medical doctors using oxidative therapies. The current medical machines used to administer UVBI are not as powerful as those original Knott machines approved for use generations ago. Energex Company is attempting to get an updated version of the original Knott UBI machine approved for use. It has been a slow process and many have died from MRSA infections alone. It should be fast tracked, but The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is heavily influenced by Big Pharma and approval would not serve those interests, giving physicians an effective therapy not controlled by Big Pharma.
