Re: WAS (Fluid in the inner ear)
I don't know about anyone else, but I have begun noticing that "medicines" are being referred to as remedies lately. Can't give any examples since I was driving (and cursing) at the time, but it is disturbing to say the least.

Tanya,
A bit fundamentalist ?? Really? John has a way with words that is truly astonishing at times, no need to flay someone, his words do such an excellent job of it. And I agree with Teresa that there hasn't been much to learn on the list in a long time. It is all well and good to go over the Organon aphorism by aphorism, but I have done that this year and am not interested. Now what ?

Re: WAS (Fluid in the inner ear)
All of the several homeopathy lists I'm on have gone really quiet. I suppose a lot of the activity has moved to Facebook? And smaller and more specialized lists? I'd be interested to hear where people are finding activity now!!
But I would also say that the "chilling effects" of the past years' "partisan" communication style may be part of the problem too. That is certainly what drove me into silence--well, that plus a string of family crisis, but the mudslinging and catfights had gotten to be a larger and larger percentage of the show.
I miss the "old days", when people would put up cases, or fragments of them, and we'd share ideas about it. But thing is, if anything "outside the box" of Organon is "not allowed", and etc., etc... It does not make for free or interesting discussion.
Stories from practice, interesting cases where the expected hasn't happened (or has happened in a way that's especially cool), cases where you learned something, materia medica, discoveries, questions, notes from seminars--waah, where are people still doing all of that???

Re: WAS (Fluid in the inner ear)
The two terms have always been technically interchangeable... "Remedy" was originally (or so I gather) a more general term (e.g. could include herbal or behavioral or lifestyle or whatever), sort of like the difference between "feline" (remedy) and "cat" (medicine).

Dear Sue
As Sheilagh Creasy (who has been a homeopath for 50 years!!) say, "Every time I read the Organon, I learn something new!"
So please help us understand the aphorisms better by giving us your understanding of the subject matter or what Hn is trying to convey.
Also please suggest something else we can discuss from which most of us can learn.

while john can be a bit fundamentalist and judgemental at times, i dont see any meaness in this post.
jeff has put out some strange ideas over some time now and been pretty rigid in his perspectives and,
so, has been somewhat offputting for many here.
please rethink your participation

Re: WAS (Fluid in the inner ear)
Hi Soroush,
At the moment, I am taking a wonderful class that has opened up case management to me in a way my more formal training never did. But I would never present any of the ideas/concepts to Minutus, since I have no desire to be on the recieving end of John or Rik or even Sheri's comments.
As far as the Organon goes, I finally came to understand that if you read the aphorisms without the footnotes (ranting), it is much more enjoyable and makes for fascinating reading. Reading footnotes only when the aphorism isn't clear, or you need additional insight.

In fact, homeopaths of old used to refer to remedies as "medicines." I agree, it's confusing and always use the term "remedies" with patients.

I think your comment speaks volumes about 2 things.
Firstly there is no room on this list for speculative psycho babble as per the mission statement.
Secondly you will have only arbitrary and subjective here-say to back up any claims regarding your re-invented Homeopathy. So no need to single out those who will have something legitimate to say about it. It will fail all on it's own.
And congratulations on being bored with the list and it's members...makes us all wonder why you are here at all.
Enjoy your Californized, new agey pseudopathy...dont let the door hit you on the way out.

Well I have mentioned before when these interminable unproductive disputes are in progress that Homeopathy is an energy medicine and that to my mind allows for practitioner's intuitive input. I have had this mother who is very burdened talking care of 2 young children, feels something not right about herself, often fearful of going out, was not well nurtured [ I had tried some of the other Lacs ] as a child, picks her lips incessantly, while obviously stressed and struggling adopts a nonchalant attitude. The 9 month child will not settle to sleep. Has to be near Mother's face. Loves to touch Mother and be touched. Loves smacking noises near her face. I have tried so hard to address the problems. The other day I held the child while the Mother used my toilet. I brought her to the room looking out on the garden and a cat which infrequently appears was there. The child was enchanted. It came flooding back to me how the grandmother loved her cats. I explored Lac Felinum in Reference works and there was the remedy.
Things are improving some unimportant aggravations but Mother who is homoeopathically aware ,thank goodness as would not have stuck with me otherwise ,sent this
I thought this part of the link interesting
I think it's definitely true that in some cases this behaviour becomes a habit - it's a bit like nail biting in humans. It's often stress or boredom related, and unfortunately some cats get stressed / bored really easily - i.e. they have a lovely home and nothing to worry about, but they still get wound up and display this behaviour as a result.
I knew cats could display this behaviour, relentless biting, licking or skin, often due to stress so I just looked it up quickly.
Also if you recall, my fear of just about anything outside the house, scared of sitting in my backyard, walking outdoors, going on holidays. Thinking that something bad is going to happen, xxxx and I just went on a lovely walk and there was no anxiety at all for me.
It has taken a while to get to the bottom of this, how funny that it came about in such a way. I think there will be lots of changes become apparent over the coming months. Im still waiting for something to prove this wrong, but I cant ignore that I have not picked my lips for 4 days.
4 days later
I am actually more patient with the kids. I can handle both of them together
better, and do the chores as well without getting overwhelmed.
:
I do not think would have got this except by some sort of help from the universe. Maybe I should have but we all have limitationsthink
I do hate this vilifying of people. How can we be healers with such rigidity of ideas.
There! I have said what I think.
Joy contributed greatly and is a big loss. I miss Hahnemannian and Rosemary and Robyn Some of the others who criticise so much contribute little.
I will move on , Jean
