5 mth. old kitten with F.I.P.
Hello All,
My 5mth old kitten, 'Sterling' has just been diagnosed with FELINE INFECTIOUS PERITONITIS.
He is teething and at first,(since last Thursday) I thought his symptoms, weepy eyes, third eye up, appetite/then not so much of an appetite was due to that….but yesterday and today he still didn't have a bowel movement and last night he peed where he was laying down…Hubby took him to the vet first thing this morning.
The vet took an x-ray of the bloated abdomen which showed no bowel obstruction/constipation. (I thought perhaps he had an obstruction)
She did a blood test…She stuck a needle into his bloated abdomen and said the fluid she took from there was 'high protein fluid' which always points to F.I.P.
The Allopathic vet told my hubby to basically put him to sleep as this disease is 100% fatal….
I don't believe in 100% fatal…Hubby brought him back home….
Has anyone had any success with treating this? Can anyone help suggest a homeopathic solution?
Thank you very much for any help. He is looking pretty bad..
When he came home, I gave him some Aconite for the shock of it all…and later, some electrolytes.
Thank you for any help.
Sincerely,
Aileen W. Donovan

While I have never treated this condition, others have successfully so wanted to support you in your efforts.
But is does need quick response.
Tom Farrington DVM in Ireland mentioned this condition in a talk I heard, but don't have his remedy recommendation.
Irene de Villers, who used to be on this list, has also treated FIP successfully.
Perhaps you can research contacting these people. In the meantime I will see if I can find any notes on this for you.

Thank you Tanya,
I found Dr. Irene de Villiers email addy off her site, and have emailed her, waiting for a response...
I didn't find anything on FIP for Dr. Farrington on his site...
Thank you if there are any other suggestions...they would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Aileen

Thank you Leilanae,
Apparently Irene de Villiers has suffered a stroke. _I don't know how to help him_, and with no one else responding here, and no where else to turn, I imagine this bodes the end for Sterling
My heart has broken...In his little life so far, he's been SUCH an amazing character, genius, inventive,a comic, full of joi de vivre and made us all laugh and smile along with him, his beautiful silver coat and sparkling green eyes, he'd jauntily strut across room with a jingly ball jutting out the side of mouth enticing anyone to 'catch me if you can'....I've been on the internet researching for hours and just can't believe there's nothing anyone can do for him...
Thank you for any kind thoughts sent Sterling's way...

Irene is active on ARH-media group.
She ought to be able to refer you to someone with experience or some
material to study.

Sometimes Irene is VERY busy. I posted a request to her Vethom list.
Is it OK to copy paste your email to her Vethom list?

Popping in briefly--sorry if this was already mentioned or posted, and it may not be sufficient, but might still be of interest--an article of Irene's on FIP in a recent (I think) Hpathy (oops, imperfectly cleaned and I should have just sent link, sorry...):
