LM or C

Post by Pongo »

Which one is faster outcome you can see LM or C?

How soon you will see the remedy is right or wrong with LM?

As we have always said, this depends entirely on the individual case - rx and their potencies have no knowledge of themselves, they do not have an inbuilt time factor, it depends on how the rx and potencies react with the individual.

Often, when you have a case with some 'urgency' then the desired reaction becomes one of urgency as well, so this would be one way of telling if the rx is correct, but reactions can be subtle and it takes great care in evaluating whether there is progress at all, and then lots of cases are in between these two extremes where cure is apparent suitably quickly but this can be said for both C and LM's.
It might help if you read about Hahnemann's advanced methods in the Organon.

Thank you Joy,

It is hard for me to read Organon as it would take a while to comprehend.

If the remedy is correct(doesn't matter LM or C)how soon you can tell the remedy is should continue or not? I think there is big difference between using 10M and LM1 for the same person. If it was always the case "it's depends" how can you find the remedy is working and how long do you wait? I think you have some kind generality as your management. I thought homeopaths use best way to find the fastest cure. Homeopathy's cure is rapid and gentle so when it says "rapid" is not like a several years. I assume when it says rapid would be a year or so. With that, response of the remedy needs to be way less than that. Always homeopaths say "it's depend" but that is huge area to see.

I don't want to be argumentative but I'm just puzzled, and it is important to know. Should I ask my homeopath, when he is giving a remedy? Should homeopath have idea of how long it takes to find out the remedy is right or wrong when he prescribed a rememdy? We don't want to waste of time as we did already.

There are indeed guidelines, so *in a given case* the homeopath will certainly have an idea about how soon to expect what. But it depends on a number of factors, including: what is being treated? (acute or chronic, and details) What is the level of the patient's vitality? (strong, weak, young, old) And to a lesser degree the remedy being used.

Would you like to give a specific example?

Shannon

I should add, yes, it's quite reasonable to ask your homeopath how quick a response he expects or at least hopes for. In that case you are dealing with a specific case, where the details are known, so there's more basis for a meaningful answer!

In a chronic case you should--in *most* cases, but not in all--know at least whether the remedy is showing promise, within 4-6 weeks for high potency C, and a week or two(?) for LMs--again, in most cases, but not in all.

In a true emergency, expected response might be immediate; and in chronic cases the response *can* also be immediate, regardless of potency, but you still need to wait out some time to know whether it's a *durable* and curative response...

Does that help at all?

Agree with what Shannon has said in both posts and I do think, that if case taking has been careful, then the homeopath should have an idea about what is needed in terms of how long cure will take but even then you can be surprised. Watching and waiting takes place with both LM's, water dosing (both far more open to repeat dosing) and dry C potency and when you think you might be in for the long haul with a complex case it actually responds in hours or days and likewise, when you expect a quick response in a chronic case because it is straightforward it turns out it takes a considerable amount of time, so our assessment of the time it will take is hazardous and it becomes more complicated when a 'close' remedy is given and there appears to be reaction but it turns out not to be the simillimum. It is different in acutes. An acute will be measured in terms of how it threatens life and the more this is so the quicker cure to expect - you will not be waiting around for hours to see if a client responds well to a rx, you will be measuring this is minutes, imo and experience.

The Organon should be read, it isn't that difficult :-) and especially lays out the protocol regarding LM's but I often suggest one of George Vithoulkas' books - The Science of Homeopathy - at the back of the book he gives numerous examples of 'rule of thumb' type circumstances regarding remedy reaction and how to assess it so this might be helpful to you but he wrote this more with dry potency prescribing I think.

I understand you might want this in black and white but it cannot always be that way.

Thank you Shannon,

My son is Autism(9 years old) and he got Hyos LM1(1 succussion/1drop/4oz water/ 1/2teaspoon)for every 3days. He was getting the same potency but different remedy(China) just before started this remedy and took 3 months to find out the remedy was not right. So I think there is already indication based on previous remedy. 3 months is too long to me. Previous homeopaths didn't take that long to find the remedy is right or wrong but his first homeopath used only C pontency and next homeopath used mixing with C and LM.

I kind have an idea this remedy is not right since he is having some problems with it. It's been only 5days since he started Hyos but I see some picture of Belladonna already(in another word, there are unsolved problems those are very similar to Belladonna).

I think those problems are getting more prominent then the homeopath can say "this isn't right remedy".

Shannon,

Yes, it helps me a lot. I needed to know general idea. I think we are pretty perseverant as we would like to cure my son(and ourselves) but at the same time, we don't want to waste our time for nothing. I was hesitating to ask his homeopath but I will ask to homeopath in few weeks this time!

Dear Pongo

You ask whether the remedy is correct, and say that there are now symptoms of Belladonna coming out. Well, maybe the remedy was the best choice at the time - what is happening now is that it is indicating the next remedy that's needed.

In homeopathy you can't always hit one remedy and only one, which will be 'the one!' Sometimes it's necessary to zigzag towards a cure - nothing wrong in this - take the case as it presents and retake the case each time, prescribing on what's presenting.

Joy,

I really appreciate your wealth of information.

What do you think about some people using remedies as selfcare for acute problems?
Thank you for suggesting me but I tried once before and I was dozing off every time I start reading it...it's like a tranquilizer for me!
Yes, I have his book and I read that part. It was interesting. It is saying about C potency. Why he doesn't use LM dose? I heard he is Kentian, is that why? I heard also American homeopaths are more like Kentian, is that true? Kentians use high potency and aggravate patients so it's not good isn't it? Hannemanians don't have that problems as using LM dose?
