act quickly
You have 10 minutes to assess an acute complaint-non emergency one. THis is not the ideal or the norm but the situation at hand and it is non chronic. what questions would you ask? how would you assess quickly but accurately and be able to give the remedy as they leave? I am just curious how others would handle this situation. I am not sure if this has ever happened to anyone or maybe they have an acute clinic where it is in and out all day long. thanks!

There is also Akiva but not convinced how good it is. See http://www.miccant.com/akiva/tour_01.htm
Basically a homeopath with good training should be able to suss out the correct remedy of a common acute by asking the CLAMS questions i.e. Concomitants, Location, Aetiology, Modalities and Sensations. We usually all have at least the main polycrests securely in our heads to be able to do this in a few minutes.

I would add to this - 10 minutes or less for an emergency, think on your feet and know you have to get it right and this is the best training of all to work on as many acutes (both emergency and non) as possible but why limit yourself to 10 minutes in a non-emergency, always best to get it right first time and if that takes 20 minutes instead of 10, who's counting. Happens all the time in a busy practice.

Train and study for as many years as you can, sit in with as many quality homeopaths that you can, or go out on home visit acutes with them if they will let you, practice taking cases (use role model situations if you need to), study with a homeopath who will throw as many cured acute cases at you for you to work on, buy books that have acute cases in them or materia medica designed more specifically for acutes, for example childhood illnesses would be a good way to start - that is what it takes and a lot more as well.

Dear All & "Birdsong"
Another good way to learn ... if you can... is come to Africa (of course to Abha Light, but any of the projects) and volunteer for a month or so in the mobile clinics.
You'll see dozens, if not hundreds, of patients
... learn quickly how to "think on your feet"
... see the follow - thru and gain confidence in your prescribing ability
... gain confidence that homeopathy indeed does work, and works rapidly.
"Classical" or "practical" in style, we will be here to help you get the experience you're looking for. You'd be welcome to take cases "quickly" or "slowly" at your own speed. "Constitutional" or "acute" - all types of patients with all types of ailments are here to be treated.
Oh yeah, and besides that, your presence here is a great contribution towards helping the people here and to the overall growth and development of homeopathy in Africa. Welcome.
