TO VARUN

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

Dear Varun
I have been ploughing through your book. Did you have an editor?
I note that your theory that Hn’s Organon 274-276 is WRONG seems to be based on your own case.
Where did you learn Homeopathy?
In the work you have done on your own case, did you ever repertories the symptoms (if yes which one?) or did you use ‘key notes’?

Dear Soroush,

So you've read the Varun book (ploughing or not).
If any, what would you say are valid and/or new insights?

Hennie

Hi Soroush

Well, regarding the editing as you have asked then I must that my book has been edited in all due respects with all proper publication procedures by my publisher. May be as being from India I've slightly different way of writing than the ones in America or England, so you might be facing some difficulties. But I really don't think they would have been so much as even my publisher is from America and the one which has all international recognition too.

I've no qualms in saying that I'm a self made Homeopath. Had interest in Homeopathy right from childhood and took it seriously when it came on my own life. When even Homeo docs said me no, then as a last ray of hope I took my case in my own hands.

Regarding repertorization, I follow Kent's repertory generally. I never like to repertorise via softwares though as I really feel very comfortable in manually seeing which all medicines are listed for a particular symptom and then looking into various remedies as per what all other guiding factors I've, which are again symptoms.

In evaluating symptoms I've my own ways too as in Hepar Sulphur one may generally feel it will only be chilly as written in books, but being made via burning Calcarea Carb (shell) and Suphur flowers together I recently saw a case and used my intuitive faculties that it was having both hot as chilly properties as based on hot Sulphur and chilly Calcarea Carb. Now this might not be seen generally but I saw a case recently and will be giving him Hepar Sulphur IM in our next meeting as we met somewhere else and even next meeting is not yet scheduled. And of course there were other guiding symptoms. And this is the case which requires one medicine. So it's not that I always follow mixing of remedies. I just do it as per the requirement, simply as per the case.

Dear Varun
A few more questions for you please.
What is your understanding of the ‘dynamic’ nature of vital force and also of remedies?
What do you understand by the ‘Totality of Symptoms’?
What do you understand by ‘unprejudiced observer’?
Can one prescribe for oneself and remain an unprejudiced observer?
What is your view of keynote prescribing?
Regards

Soroush

Varun, mixing of medicines into a prescription may be a completely rational confounding of medicinal influences to make, if one has the superlative knowledge -- which I doubt anybody has or can possibly have -- to be able to predict its outcome. But it is utterly and irrevocably incompatible with homoeopathic practice, which is why Soroush is haranguing you with questions that appear to be irrelevant.

How can I be sure, you may wonder, that prescribing a medical mixture is so completely at odds with any kind of homoeopathic practice? It's a fair question. The answer lies in what homoeopathy actually is rather than in how anybody, no matter how intuitive or wise or creative or ingenious, may choose to practise it.

What homoeopathy actually is has one simple requirement, and adherence to that requirement is the simple test for whether the method you are using is homoeopathy. Meet the requirement, and -- no matter how you go about it, and taking no account of how well you do so -- you are practising homoeopathy. Violate the requirement, and -- regardless of how wise, intuitive, inventive, knowledgeable, or superior you may be or may imagine yourself to be -- you are not.

That sole requirement is that the choice of medicine be based wholly upon its capacity to cause, in the healthy, symptoms that resemble more closely than any other medicine known the patient's symptoms of illness.

It is by reason of that sole requirement that medical mixtures of all kinds are incompatible with homoeopathic practice of any kind.

Once you have understood this single, simple substantial core of what homoeopathy is, you can begin to understand homoeopathy sufficiently to be able to learn how to practise it. Until then, you cannot do so, let alone teach somebody else how to.

This meaning of homoeopathy is not open to interpretation, not subject to whim, not up for grabs. Homoeopathy, no matter whether practised by night or by day, whether by single or escalating potencies -- indeed whether in potency at all or merely in crude doses -- has that sole requirement: of sure similarity of pathogenetic symptoms to symptoms of the patient's illness. It may be, and has been, expressed in countless ways, but that basis for prescription is the sole necessity (as well as the entire necessity) for medical prescription to constitute some kind of homoeopathic practice.

Kind regards,

John

Go to the website of any homeopathic pharmacy, John, and you will see
that they offer remedies for any number of ailments - be it a simple cold,
stomach ache, headache, backpain, dirrhoea or a whole screed of ailments.
These are not single remedies, but a mix of five to ten remedies in a bottle,
covering all aspects of the ailment.
Tell these homeopathic pharma companies that it is not homeopathic remedies
they are dispensing. Maybe they'll they will listen to you.

There are so many new discoveries in my book and so many new concepts that will guide you to mix medicines. Plus when you'll understand my theory all doubts will be gone.

Dear Jeff,

Anybody sufficiently mercenary, even a "homoeopathic" pharmacist, is capable of corrupting everything he knows.

A "homoeopathic" prescriber who allows such mercenaries to override his own basic education in a fundamental fact -- a definition -- that he could find in any dictionary does so to his own loss and to the loss of any patients unfortunate enough to put their trust in his intelligence.

I'm always disappointed when I find that somebody purporting to understand what homoeopathy is propounds the facile idea that the lies and half-truths of commercial marketing -- whether by practitioners or by their suppliers -- may be more useful than a simple definition. I'm aware that you're not alone in appearing to value convenient tripe over facts. But neither marketing deceit, nor self-deception, nor popularity changes the nature of a definition that you, Jeff, should be utterly familiar with.

Kind regards,

John

Yes, Varun, no doubt there are. The point is that your book's recommendations for mixing medicines instantly take it out of the realm of the certain knowledge of pathogenetic symptoms that can result only from use of single, simple medicines. Hahnemann worked this out long before he discovered the value of the homoeopathic relationship, so you're presently mired in ignorance well over two centuries out of date. Homoeopathy could not have been discovered, let alone practised, if Hahnemann had not first sorted out that basic.

Our knowledge of "homoeopathic" medicines is in fact a knowledge of what each can cause in the healthy. That knowledge is belittled and unappreciated by homoeopathy's opponents, both internal and external, because it is inconvenient to have to come by it through sheer study. But without a knowledge of the "pure" effects of a substance -- its capability of deranging health -- the practice of "pure" medicine, i.e. homoeopathy, is not possible; only allopathy is possible.

Your particular brand of allopathy may have great merit, and I don't propose to judge that. But it has no place whatever on this list that concerns itself with homoeopathy -- by which I mean the practice that anybody is capable of understanding who has no ulterior motive in misunderstanding it. Your shameless self-promotion on this list is a trial and a waste of time to all here who love and value homoeopathy. Please, please take it elsewhere.

Kind regards,

John
