help with rubrics for compulsive blinking

Post by Pauline Ashford »

Hi I have a case with a 9 yo male child – his Mother brought him because of his compulsive blinking plus occasionally for short periods he will do some other compulsive movements

I would like some help with possible rubrics to put together to describe his tic? I have looked at Tics, blinking, twitching, compulsive movements etc but just feel that somehow I am missing something in my translation into rubrics – any help would be gratefully received – I have latest Complete Rep and case analysis

Started age 5

Was marital discord between parents at time and Mother and Father separated for a short while then got back together – still not fantastic but they do make an effort to be a united front to children

Blinking occurs in episodes of 3-7 seconds

He describes it as ‘I have to do it – it just builds up and then I cant stop it from happening –
