Maltitol is a sugar alcohol and it's net carb value = 0, though it could have an adverse effect on one's blood glucose. I eat chocolate w/maltitol and IKEA's sugar free cocoa balls with matlitol and don't experience blood glucose increases.
Muesli is quite high a carb and high GI, so doesn't jive with a low carb/low GI diet you said you're following: http://www.carbs-information.com/cereal/muesli.htm No wonder you're having blood sugar spikes! If you follow a strict NO carb Atkins-style meal and are in benign dietary ketosis, with muesli, then you should be able to get away with it.
I just had my saliva secretor status done and I'm a B+ non-secretor. Interestingly , the adjusments D'Adamo makes for non-secretors (20% of population) matches what I've intuitively felt.

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
Depends what you make your muesli with
Oat, barley , rye, not wheat flakes . Nuts + seeds make the carbs slow acting. Everyone is different when it comes to what the body can cope with when it comes to type 2 . Testing after foods is the only way you find pout what your individual body can handle. My Type 2 is hereditary and I have never been overweight . I eat normal chocolate as long as it is 85+% . Maltitol doesn't spike everyone but it does me.
I don't under stand what B+ non secretor means . If you would like to explain to me than please contact me off list as this really is not homeopathy.

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
Test results on foods after 2 hours is relative, it depends on how much and which carbs you've eaten in previous meals. If I've been strictly on Atkins, no carbs, in ketosis, eating various carb foods will have little effect on blood glucose after 2 hours. If I've been eating carbs continuously thus having a pancreas pumping out insulin, eating most any carb will show a higher blood glucose reading as you become more reactive the more carbs you keep eating.
Type B's are generally best with meats/fish, not with grains, except chicken is not good. . Have you tried eggs for breakfast, not cereal? Rye and barley are definite avoids for type B blood with hereditary T2 diabetes. You're not going to have long term diabetes control eating grains daily, sorry.

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
Sorry how long do you call long term control
I am very happy with the control I have now as it seems to be a lot better than some on medication!! I caught mine at the start and I think that helps as well as does homeopathy. I would still like to know what B+ non secretor means.

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
Thanks for posting that info. I can vouch that all the health issues discussed about non-secretors is true for me. Reading this only gives more reason to stick with D'Adamo's food suggestions for blood type along with his non-secretor modifications.
