It may be less common, but it's there! Read labels for things like icecream (sorbets especially), cereal bars, sauces etc. Sometimes it's simply called 'fructose'.

We already do lemon water. We even drink diluted pure unsweetened cranberry extract. I used to make a summer drink with cider vinegar and a touch of honey, but since my husband is on a low glycemic diet, we can't do even that, much less regular lemonade. The Zevia is an occasional treat.

Occasional treats are a good thing!!

Does xylitol work for you guys? I have no sugar issues at this point (and hardly use any anyway, am happy with Sucanat for baking), so have not been very motivated to use the cannister of it that sits in my cupboard, but am curious. It's said to (in addition to being ?no-glycemic?) remineralize teeth and bones, tho I can't imagine how...

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
On the rare occasions e.g. in a home made tomato sauce , I want to use a sweetener as I don't use sugar, I do use Xylitol. - I must throw the fructose away which I used to use!!

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
I was given the cidar vinegar/honey formula originally, but didn't really want the sweetness.
Found that the 2 Tbs of vinegar in 8 oz of water was really refreshing and not very acidic tasting.
Personally I am not a 'sour' person so lemons never made it for me. I was surprised that the
cidar vinegar drink worked for me. But everyone has their own unique tastes and needs to
find what works for them .

Two Tbs (TBSP/ tablespoons) of vinegar is a lot, Tanya. Maybe you meant Tsp/teaspoons? I was given the same “recipe” years ago and have used it off and on, but I know that if I used 2 TBSP of vinegar, my stomach would scream—never mind my teeth! Teresa (Northern VA)

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
I found 2 tsp too much, but 1 tsp I like... I just do it now and then, but I find that esp. during periods of cloudy and "changing" weather, it can really pick me up.
Re: High-fructose corn syrup
Hmmm, not sure at this point -- the whole low glycemic thing is new to me. I guess I'll find out when canning season starts, which it will imminently. Is sucanat really no or low-glycemic? I have doubts on that score.

Re: High-fructose corn syrup
Mm, it's probably not... But I use very little anyway, and have never seemed to have any trouble with it, even in the days when I used considerably more.
I did read that it doesn't work so well in making breads because it doesn't support the growth of yeast as well as honey and plain sugar do--so for candida issues that would be a plus. I'm told it's mineral-rich, and I just figure that unrefined (it's just dehydrated cane juice) and mineral rich has got to be better than refined... Mostly tho, I love the taste (in small and occasional amounts) and it works for me.
Oh, when I used the phrase "no-glycemic" I was referring to xylitol, because I thought I recall that it's not metabolized? I could be mistaken about that, tho.
