I think tuberculosis can also destroy tissue? Which is maybe part of why that miasm been spoken of as a "combination" of psoric and syphilitic--am I remembering that right? (I don't know whether that would apply to this case, tho.)

It certainly isn't syphilitic - most would place it in the Psoric range.

(I assume you mean the cat?)
Does psoric cover tissue destruction? I do find it confusing still... How would you differentiate between syphilitic destruction and psoric?

No I meant Pyrogen, it isn't syph. The tendency for boils, bleeding (from injury) then putrefaction of the part which includes sepsis (septic fever), the intense restlessness from anxiety, foetid smells, offensive ulcers, restless sleep full of dreams of fear, to name a few instances of Pyrogen are all psoric.
Not enough time now to do a comparison of the 2 miasms but the information is easily available. Maybe see it this way - Psoric being eruptive from within out and Syph goes the other way, very inward and internalised.
But this is very basic homeopathic study.

Thanks, I'm familiar with the differences between the two miasms!
But I too had thought that tissue destruction was more of syphilitic or tubercular, rather than psoric.

Hi Liz
I was too tired to reply to this last night but now my brain is back in
gear:
But if the remedy ceases to go to complete cure because it isn't the
simillimum is it still indicted? With animals we always have the
problem of only having a partial case so we can never be certain that we
have chosen the best suited remedy.
With regards to the cat's susceptibility, he has actually had quite a
mild reaction in terms of what frequently happens with Adder bite:
gangrene and even death, so I would say that he isn't that susceptible.

No, if it isn't the simillimum, it can't go to complete cure. But even if it is the simillimum, it might not go to complete cure if there is a blockage - and that's where a nosode might come in.
Joy has written about Pyrogen too - did you see? - she places it in the Psoric realm. Whilst all remedies are multi-miasmatic to some extent, and syphilis could not exist without psora, I still see Pyrogen (like Arnica, Baptisia) as syphilitic more than psoric, personally.
have you thought about one of the snake remedies if there is this oozing of blood?

I perosnally see psoric as being more disruptive of functions rather than actually destructive of tissue - for me, when there is tissue destruction, syphilis is implicated.
Tuberculosis, which comes out of psora, agreed, is nevertheless very syphilitic in nature - but also sycotic. It is a mixture of all three miasms. Depends which form it takes. Tub. patients can have the wild, addictive, excessive behaviour of Sycosis, but the disease is also syphilitically destructive of tissue and fatal ultimately. And before that there is the Psoric tendency to a broken-down, weak constitution - not able to throw things off - chest complaints linger etc.

Hi Liz
I was typing in a rush and obviously put my reply badly. I know that we
use nosodes for blockages, but what I was trying to say is that the
balance of probabilities here is not a blockage, but the wrong remedy
due to a combination of factors: only having a partial case as we always
have with animals and my lack of knowledge of remedies.
Yes I have read Joy's response on Pyrogen.
There is no oozing of blood now that was the reaction to the Pyrogen and
that stopped and the area that the blood oozed from healed up.

Thanks for your response Mair. I think today that I will go with the
Gunpowder as the wound hasn’t improved any since yesterday despite
giving another dose.
With regard to miasms and animals you might find the book by John Saxton
and Peter Gregory useful in that respect: Textbook of Veterinary
Homeopathy. It is an interesting read in general if you treat animals
and also covers miasms.
