Hi All,
Thanks for the input!
Carol, Oh terrific, that's just great, I spent a couple of months looking
for that remedy, you take one day. Show off! Yes, all the important features
of the case are listed as characteristics of that remedy in Boenninghausen's
MM.
First prescription was Sulph, then Lycopodium, both of which had only
minimal effect. The SRP in the case to me, was the complete absence of sweat
following the hot flush so the best indicated remedy had to be graded highly
in that rubric.
In Boenninghausen's Pocketbook you look for these types of menopausal
symptoms (heat, sweat, chill) under the general Fever/Circulation chapter
because in those days, "Fever" referred to *any change in normal body
temperature* - either a heat or a chill. There is a rubric under Fever,
Sweat, lack of, with Oleander in genius grade (so is Sulph and Lyc. Also
China - but the patient was not anaemic or suffering from malaria).
Oleander was repeated up to LM05 with good results and then Causticum
finished the case.
TPB Rubrics used:
(1) Fever, Sweat, lack of
(2) Sensorium, Dullness, impairment of mental function
(3) Skin, itching, effects after scratching, moisture, (4) biting, (5)
burning.
Sulph: 5,5,3,4,5
Lyc: 5,3,5,4,4
Oleander: 5,3,4,5,4
Merc: 4,5,3,3,4
Caust: 3,3,3,4,5
Mez: 3,4,3,4,3
Comparison with the Oleander MMP:
#10: On reading rather long sentences in a book it is often difficult for
him to apprehend the construction.
#11: It is very difficult for him to read from a learned book; he must
read many sentences three or four times over, before he can understand them,
because in spite of the greatest effort he cannot comprehend what he reads,
but is distracted by other spontaneously arising thoughts, which always
supplant those suggested by the reading.
#37: Eroding itching as from lice on the whole hairy scalp, compelling
scratching, repeatedly all day.
#39: Eroding itching on the hairy scalp, that forces him to scratch.
#93: Constant howling in the left ear.
#311: Great sensitiveness of the skin of the whole body; from the slight
friction of the clothes it becomes sore, raw, and painful, e.g. on the neck
from the cravat, on the thighs from loose trousers when walking.
#343: Flying heat runs over him, especially when he sets about his work
eagerly (also when sitting); likewise when he walks quickly he grows very
warm, and the heat pricks his face like numerous fine needles.
#344: Whilst reading, heat is forced out of his body.
#346: Obtuseness of the senses, out of humour, indisposed for everything.
#348: Want of self-confidence, and hence serious sad disposition.
#350: He cannot bear contradiction.
#352: The heat rapidly overcomes him; he breaks out in anger, but repents
immediately afterwards.
Fever, Sweat, completely absent - Boenninghausen's Fever Characteristics
Regards,
Chris.

C.F. female, 51 years of age.
Works in a Call Center for a large organisation. Has become very sensitive
to criticism especially from co-workers who have accused her of not pulling
her weight in the team. Complains of "stupid" feeling in the head, very
distracted, can't maintain concentration even when reading a book at home.
Has to read the same passage 10 or more times just to get the meaning of it.
Family complains about her sharp temper, will suddenly fly off the handle
over minor issues, and then she feels guilty and apologizes.
Chronic tinnitus which sounds like wind roaring past the ears.
Since her periods have become less regular there is a reappearance of an old
eczematous eruption behind the ears and going along the hairline of the
scalp to the occiput, with a moist clear discharge < scratching. After
scratching, the area stings and burns, there is a "biting" feeling.
Often wakes during the night feeling very hot, as if it would result in a
hot flush, but perspiration is entirely absent after heat. Externally, skin
feels cold, but internally, burning up. This heat without sweat appearing
symptom happens also during the day when at work or simply trying to read a
book.

What happened after the remedy administration ? When you said the case was resolved, it was not clear.
What happened to the mental (dullness), emotional (anger), and the physicals (herpes around the ear)?
Would love to hear in detail.

Re: Detect the remedy? Yes Oleander.
Hi Venkat,
I prescribed one dose a day for 4 days (Mon to Thurs) That is, 5
succussions, one tablespoon from the 4oz bottle into a 4oz cup of water, the
*dose was one teaspoon from the cup*. Then she was told to stop the remedy
till the following Monday and repeat as before (unless any aggravating
symptoms appeared). This way, one MS bottle, or potency level, lasts around
2 weeks with sufficient days in between to allow the remedy to act.
The skin symptoms got progressively better and healed over until LM05 when
there was a temporary setback and no more improvement despite more dosing. I
changed to Causticum LM01 based on the location (behind the ears) and
sensation of rawness of the skin eruptions, and another concomitant, urine
spurts when coughing and sneezing, and as far as I know the eruption has
stayed away (don't know about the urine spurts). Her general mood and
concentration improved, the hot flushes eased, there was also a reported
reduction in the tinnitus, and she was very happy with the outcome at that
point and left treatment. I prefer to use the term "case resolved" rather
than "cured" because as we all know, the miasms run very deep and can have
many different later expressions.
