Swine fever/flu
Swine fever/flu
Any ideas what is best to bring the temperature down if Bell is not working. The main symptoms in this case - a child - is the listlessness and temperature. Gels. doesn't seem to be doing a lot. The aches are better today, mild sore throat and headache. Has felt a bit nauseous but no irritability so I don't feel like prescribing Nux.
Thanks

Dear Rochelle
It is the pt's sx that have to be covered by the remedy Not the other way around!
Nux-v is also under MILDNESS!

I have to admit I have been using the swine fever tool from Paul Herscu and for this case it worked out that Nux Vom is not the Rx. However I will see how it goes.

If by listless you mean apathy then use that rubric, i.e.'indifference, apathy, during fever' - quite a lot of remedies but as you know the rest of the sx you can make the case more secure. If there is sweat, for example maybe Phos-ac. Could even be Pulsatilla if a bit clingy.

I have suggested Puls to mum as it is a remedy we have used with the child before!!

Re: Swine fever/flu
It should be used because it fits the sx! Is it actual swine 'flu by the way? I ask because the NHS hotline is now asking clients lots of direct questions and then they decide if someone has it or not depending on the answers, not by the results of a lab test. Another way of coking the books, for sure.

Re: Swine fever/flu
No one is saying it is swine flu - but just flu!!! Anyone who gets in touch with me (i.e. patients, former patients) would not be going to the NHS site as they are not interested in taking Tamiflu and the likes!!!

You are so right, Joy!
Two people at work have been ill recently - one with sore throat, aches and pains and temperature. Another with a sore throat and cold!! Both diagnosed with swine flu, however.
It's crazy - the world gone mad. And if you took away the adjective 'swine', none of these cases would raise an eyebrow.

Re: Swine fever/flu
Child much better today- no fever . They have now gone on holiday armed with a Helios kit and Rx differentiation for flu which I gave them. Mum will give Phos Ac if lethargy doesn't perk up but I did say try flat coca cola which contains Phos Ac!! Brilliant cure for my kids when they had diarrhoea and vomiting - pre my homeopathic training. One of the other kids had the same but milder last week and mum didn't treat her.
I agree Liz - they want to give the name swine flu to everything so they can palm off the rapidly expiring dated Tamilflu although I read somewhere that the expiry date has been extended 2 years!!!!!!
I haven't heard a word from the adult patient which means she is now better. Although the A/G/E helped some of the symptoms (sore throat and swollen glands) with this particular patient 1 dose of Nux Vom 200 made all the difference in a few hours and was given because she had a bit of nausea. There was only a low grade fever with this case.
