Hi Gail,

Sympathy to you!!!!!!
My experience with sunburn is happily very limited, but I would think
that once you take the appropriate remedy, you should feel relief from
the pain. I would think (and interested in others' experiences) that
any remedy (or dose--I wonder if olfactory is *always* an effective
dose? I thought not always...) that doesn't afford some relief within
a few minutes, is probably not the needed one and probably not going to
make much difference on the skin either?

I read that any type of oil will hold in the heat; vinegar (diluted,
but not sure what the recommended proportion is) is said to be both
soothing and healing, as it helps to normalize the skin's protective
acid mantle. Spraying on vitamin C solution is another I've read to be
helpful.

I'll also send posts I've saved over some time--part below and part in
a separate post, in case it's too long. Heal fast!!!!

Hi Jas
At the time Parimal Banerji published his work (1995), he says that he
had
the opportunity to treat more than a thousand cases of burns of
different
degrees. He has not had a single case that has ended up with tetanus or
septic infection even where conditions were most unhygeinic with every
possibility of various types of contaminations. From these treatments
he has
found the following to be successful:

CANTHARIS 6 - as soon as the burn occurs, it should ideally be covered
with
cotton to exclude air immediately (this prevents the formation of
blisters).
If Cantharis 6 is available, soak a layer of cotton with it to cover the
entire area of the injured skin. Cantharis 200 may be used in its place.
If neither of these are available, then a thick layer of petroleum
jelly may
be applied to exclude the air.
Application of Cantharis 6 or 200 will stop the intolerable burning

CANTHARIS 200
Indicated at all stages of burns or scalds
Superficial or deep ulcerations or blisters from burn or scalds
When the burn occurs, a dose giben immediately by mouth relieves the
atrocious pain and burning in half an hour
Ulcers from burn or scald at any stage

When possible to attend immediately after the burn, it is given every
one
hour till the burning is relieved. In more acute burning, it is to be
used
more frequently. When the burning pains are over and the blisters or
ulcerations are formed, Cantharis 200 and Ars alb 200 are used
alternately<
one being in a day or maybe< one in the morning and the other in the
evening, according to the severity of the case. This treatment gives
complete protection against tetanus and sepsis. Cantharis 200 is almost
a
specific for burn.

The potencies mentioned above are the optimum potencies based on his
research and experiments with other potencies of these drugs.

I think I chose Canth because the rapidity with which the burns
blistered
really impressed me -- within less than 3 minutes there were already
huge
blisters over the whole burned area. It was like a rapid severe
reaction to
a poisonous bite -- with a huge amount of instant pain. Causticum
seems a
bit less intense and rapid.

I really appreciate that you are taking the time to respond to and

me and I Thank You in advance from a learning perspective.

Over 20 years ago, prior to my involvement in the professional field of
homeopathy, I was burned over 60% of my being by raw aviation fuel from
an
airplane crash that I was in - although we crashed into the ocean one
of the
fuel tanks emptied on to me from underwater and saturated my clothing
for
well over 4 hours... at one point I was given a foreign bottle from
Switzerland with what appeared to be a mix of honey and some essential
oils
to apply and it is virtually impossible to see any signs of scarring on
me
anywhere - the Drs at the hospital proclaimed me to be some sort of
miracle
human as 3rd, 2nd & 1st degree burns turned to healed & virtually
undamaged
skin over several months...

I generally use a 30C [ignis alcoholis] repeated as necessary for most
minor to moderately severe burns. I'd use 200C for more severe, deep
and extensive burns, but thankfully I've never needed to yet.

Some case examples:

Case 1. 8 year-old boy fell into a garden fire and put out his hand to
break his fall. Whole hand burned. Treated allopathically. Mother spoke
to me about a week later concerned that the hand looked pretty nasty
when the
dressing was being changed - blistered areas suppurating, skin greyish
and
sloughing, no healing evident. Gave 30C that night. Following day when
dressing was changed, hand was transformed - suppuration almost ceased
and
skin pink and regenerating. As a result, mother doubted her own
observations of the previous day and concluded that her judgement must
have been affected by her concern. All evidence of burns now gone.

Case 2. Me! Reaching across open door of wood-burning stove to get more
logs, brought underside of right forearm down on top of door. Burn was
deep
enough to fuse several layers of skin together. Treated immediately
with hot water and with Ignis alc 30C. Never blistered. No repeat dose
required.
Healed completely with all signs of scarring and redness gone within 4
months. Only evidence left after 10 months is a tiny (2mm) area of
whitish
skin where the deepest part of the burn was. In contrast, friend who has
identical burn from identical cause, but which was less deep than mine,
still has prominent red weal on arm after 8 months.

The potential of the remedy became apparent during Nuala's proving.
Several
provers noticed that burns disappeared very quickly, but there was also
the
case of a very young child who was severely scalded. This is from 4
year-old memory, but if I remember rightly a pot of boiling water or
tea or something similar fell all over them. The child was rushed to
hospital. The burns were so extensive that the prognosis was pretty
poor. A relative knew of the proving and contacted Nuala. The remedy
was driven right the way across Ireland and given to the child in
hospital in the only potency (30C) they had at the time. I can't
remember details of any repeat dosages, etc, but the child recovered
fully and without scarring.

Helios in the UK stock the remedy. Nuala has published the proving (in
the
same volume as Amber). I would guess you should be able to get it
through
Minimum Price though I haven't checked their catalogue. It's in the
latest
version of ReferenceWorks.

Hi,

I have never been able to understand the application of a remedy
externally. Could someone explain it to me? I guess a burn is like a
mucus membrane, but I would think that it would be the same thing
given internally. Not sure how a remedy in water would stop the air.
(Cantharis 6c applied I guess in water to the wound). I can image 6c
in oil better, but is oil a carrier for a remedy?

My husband had his entire foot covered with 2nd degree burn (I think
it would be second degree burn. He put his foot in nearly boiling hot
water for a second). I didn't have remedies with me. Much against
his will I soaked big towels in hot water, rung them out and put them
in plastic shopping bags. Then I wrapped the burned foot with the
hot but not burning hot towels. I bet the plastic bag shut out the
air. Somehow he managed to fall asleep and in the morning he woke up
with a blister only between his big toe and second toe where the towel
could not reach. The swelling, flaming red and pain were also gone
and he could wear his shoe. He was going to his mother's funeral as
the only son so this was essential. I always tell this story to
illustrate the meaning of the similum.

I saw an herbalist at a Rainbow gathering take cactus paddles, slice them in half, and apply the cut sides to the sunburn of a woman who'd fallen asleep in the sun. I assume the cactus, whatever it was, produced a substance akin to aloe vera.
As for homeopathy, I've used Causticum to treat second-degree burns from a cigarette lighter (in a self-mutilator), but my favorite remedy for burns is Ignis alchoholis, which has been wonderful in glass-blowing accidents. (We have a lot of glassblowers in this area. Molten glass makes for a nasty burn.)

Even though it is highly counterintuitive, using heat on burns is something
that I've found to be very successful ever since I started using it about 10
years ago. In fact, I have a dime-size scar on my hand from a very *serious*
burn (from 300 degree F sugar syrup, while candy-making) back in 2003. The
burn site started out larger than a silver dollar. Used hot water
homeopathically, and within a year it had healed completely to this small
scar. Never went to hospital or consulted a allopath.
