and what did that ancient word mean? according to my dictionary it refers to

history in our modern world, in fact, is his story--a recording of events by ruling class
men! it is not for nothing that women have developed the altered term herstory.
but this discussion is likely to go the way of other similar ones-unfortunately. my
background in dealing with bias/prejudice has always directed me to listen to the
voice of the underdog or oppressed as a valid expression. in today's patriarchal
world that effort is denigrated. but of course. that is tactic of a dominant power working
to maintain its power at the expense of those they rule. that is what mass media spin
is about, as well as public education--the control of the minds of the masses in order
to maintain control and get people to do what is often not in their best interests. this
issue of semantics and sexism is just another venue for the power of one segment
of society and control over another.
