Hi Shannon,
No I mean, they are things that some people might not tell you because
they feel ashamed such as condolymata, being fat as a child and young
person, even not having money. None of this is hidden. I think her
feelings are hidden from her--suppressed. She becomes irritated and
might have a tantrum or weep, but she is really depressed and it is
too dangerous to go there. SHe has already experienced depression and
does not want to experience it again.

Do you know what causes the depression, e.g. what her childhood was
like, whether specific traumatic events happened, or specific areas
where she feels she has failed?

Sometimes it can be helpful to ask, "If we could wave a wand over you
right now, and tomorrow everything about you and your life would be
*just* the way you want it, what things would change?" And maybe later
ask, "If everything were just the way you want, how would you yourself
feel or be different?"

What are the things that make her feel irritated?

Another way of filling things out could be just to chat with her. Ask
her to tell you about her family, her job, what she likes and doesn't
like about any of that, what she'd love to do when she retires, stuff
like that? You could get clues both from what she talks about, and
also the way she does it.

Another question to ask would be "what would you replace the depression with". Also In EFT there are things called tailenders. These are things that a patient would be forced to do if they were well and they don't want to do those things........ Sometimes there are blocks to getting well. (Probably not helpful in homeopathic terms!!! :-) )

Hi Shannon,
I guess I was not so chatty with her. Two years ago, I spent hours
taking her case and managed it for months without pay. I do know all
that childhood stuff. I know that her happiest time was when her film
was a hit among a few people interested in meditation and when she met
her husband who she adores. During our entire interview she (and I)
focuses on her very real concern with money and the tensions that that
is causing her. I sympathized and reduced my normal payment schedule.
Then she says she does not remember all those hours of case
management when I was chatty. I start feeling short tempered. I
don't really want to chat with her. I have Sankaran's interview style
in mind and I am really focused on drawing out sensations... etc. It
is not happening because either she is a mineral can't really describe
how she feels or who knows what. The other part of the tension is she
is really sick of homeopathy style interviews. She is not interest at
all in what I am doing or why, she just wants results. I gave her
results once so she thinks I can do it again. Ahh human nature. I
should be able to get a meaningful rubric out of that. Goal oriented.
I much prefer cases where the patient is happy to work with you and
interested in what we are doing. Not just me magically manipulating
energy. Beggars can't be choosers. I am going to go to bed now and
try to wake up in a more positive frame of mind. I should be thinking
in terms of rubrics or at least be a bit more creative.
Blessings,
Ellen

My own experience with that method is very limited, but it does seem to
me that it's not appropriate for all cases. I'm remembering watching
my then-h'th trying to do get a Sankaran-style case out of my
then-11(?)-year old, whose basic response was something like, "Huh?"
:-)) And my husband, well I can't *imagine* getting anything like
that out of him!!! LOL. Thinking... I think probably there are other
remedies too, besides minerals, that might have difficulty with this?
E.g. any of the (as you said) suppressed ones, any of the "flat" ones.
Probably the closed stages of sepia could be difficult? Or maybe it's
more skill in the method, and in casetaking. I've wondered...

Does she make any gestures?
:-) Sounds fun...
How long ago was it, that her skin symptoms cleared with calc-c? Were
there *any* other changes at all, besides the skin symptoms clearing?
I was taught that, once you've removed part of the symptom picture, you
can take e.g. two possible approaches, one being to look for a remedy
for the rest of the case (apparently what you've been doing, and I
guess could be called a layers approach?), and another approach is to
look for a remedy that includes the remaining part *and* the part that
was cleared.

But--what can you see about what else has changed, besides the skin
being better?
Perhaps part of that roughness is just her frustration?

Hi, Ellen.

Intriguing situation.

My original impression, with the female pain descending, the work vs.
personal emotional problems, the << menopause and hormones, various fears of
poverty, and the irritability was to think about Sepia -- related of course
to Calc, and with eczema-type eruptions (I'm making an assumption that
Calc-c worked on such eruptions??). Nat-m probably needs to be in this
differential as well.

The remedy that comes up in a brief repertorization, is, interestingly,
Nux-v, which of course is complementary to Sepia and also makes sense with
the focus on "projects" being her whole life, and the tendency to
irritability. These are the rubrics:

MIND - PHENOMENA - IDEAS - fixed
MIND - phenomena - irritability - pain, during
ABDOMEN - COMPLAINTS of abdomen - extending to - Thighs
MIND - modalities - climacteric period, ailments from

Of course, these are just thoughts.....

It will be interesting to see what works for her.

Warmly, Rosemary

Thanks Shannon. I have complained about this case out loud (email)
and that's a step forward. There is some part of me that does not
want to admit that I don't like her or she can't be that bad... Not a
very objective point of view. I am stepping back a bit and I can see
there is a disconnect between her head and her body. Feels only in
her head. Or mainly in her head. Does not feel her body much. I
don't think I can go as far as a delusion, but one of those remedies
that live in their heads. There are lots of them. Anyway, I think it
is good to get my frustruations out there for me to view. So they
don't trip me up. That's what is happening in this case.
I have been working with the flower essence Willow and White Yarrow.
They are supposed to bring out those negative thought processes. I
think they are doing a good job.
