Dear Friends,
Do you think the availability of tonics, lotions, combination tablets,
ointments named homoeopathic medicine will bring homoeopathy to a top
class medicine? Aren't they against the homoeopathic philosophy?

operate at a low level of impact and are considered 'safe' enough for free
access by the p

sorry if this is a duplicate--but the first post seemed to disappear
my take is that time will tell. some allopathic meds are sold otc as
having low level impact and therefore considered 'safe.' we can view
some of the lotions and low potency combos in that way.
the real impact on homepathy is whether we can promote professional
case taking for serious and constitutional cases. the big question is
how do we compete with insurance plans that keep out of pocket costs
down for people but don't cover homeopathy.
of course i am writing from the american perspective.
are they against homeopathic philosophy? this has been a big issue
over the years with many discussions on the legitimacy of their use.
i don't think you can stop their use. we don't have to use them and we
can educate people as much as possible about homeopathy and its
real essence. however, if someone uses a combo remedy and it helps,
your words will fall on deaf ears. also, i think that if someone has a good
experience with a combo, then i would use it to further educate them on
the difference between acute, self-help tx vs. professional case-taking.

This discussion could go in several directions. Certainly the
proliferation of multiple 'commercial' products that use the word
homeopathy in their label is not promoting the best practice of
homeopathy. However, on the other side, the CORE of homeopathy is the
gentle care and healing of an individual. I would rather someone use a
good arnica cream to relieve muscle discomfort, or a calendula gel on
an irritated rash, than a petroleum based product with a list of
ingrediets that includes possible harmful chemicals, or worse, a
steroid based pharmaceutical mixture. More important, I hope we
continue to have the freedom of choice.
Enhancing the image of homeopathy to a 'top class medicine' as you say -
would perhaps be best accomplished by good education, promotion, and
results, rather than any form of 'control' over the 'stuff' that is
filling the shelves of the health food stores.
We are currently facing the possibility of all 'natural' products
falling under more governmental controls. I would rather see more
education and more choice than more control.
