Re: anyone know ....(agave sweetener)
Hi Shannon,
The honey affected both my appetite and digestion. The protocol that Dr. Goodheart used was that anyone who was sick and had trouble eating or stabilizing their sugar (and everyone really sick according to him was likely to have unstable sugar) was this. Use it to stabilize your sugar but also to stabilize it so that you could eat. Take 1 Tablespoon wait one hour then eat and you should have no trouble eating since you would be stable and before bed you could take 1 Tablespoon wait one hour then before bed eat one piece of fruit and one piece of cheese then you would be fine all night since the fruit would help carry along the honey and the protein in the cheese would stabilize you until morning. I still use this to this day and I have no sugar problems even though I am older and it runs in my family.

Hi Rochelle,
I looked at both websites again. I had no trouble. I did notice on the one for Sleeping Bear Farms that on their website it was given as www.sleepingbearfarms@yahoo.com , also, so maybe this would work. The other one which has the larger amounts and deeper discounts maybe could be www.floridatupelohoney.com instead of the one starting info. If you still have trouble let me know and I can either get you other information like a phone number or address or perhaps another website as there were others listed. These looked the best to me though.

Ah, so it *improved* your appetite and digestion? I had wondered about
the reverse!
Does high blood sugar make one not want to eat? (Seems reasonable, now
that I think about it.) My mother hasn't noticeably lost her appetite,
but she sometimes wants to binge on Rice Dream or Coconut Cream, both
of which send her blood sugar soaring. (And the couple of times I've
tested, her reading was already a bit high before the "snack", but much
higher after.) Maybe the tupelo honey would satisfy her sweet craving
in productive way instead of the damaging one??
So the reason for taking it an hour before eating is to bring up the
appetite in time for the meal, or ?

Oh, PS--so now that you're stabilized you continue with it four times
daily--hour before each meal, and hour before bedtime snack? If it's
not feasible (at least sometimes) to do it an hour before, I assume
there would be no harm in doing it with or after??
Thanks again!

Hi Shannon,
Actually Dr. Goodheart showed me how to get back to a regular healthy natural diet using food as my body needed it and I started out very sick, eating a little every two hours and bringing back my health by increasing my energy with good food as well as a very minimum of supplements and a few other things. I then worked up to the 4 times a day you mentioned but if I go through stressful times I revert back to the low sugar diet of 4 to 6 meals a day and if I need more I add the honey. I have learned to be flexible with whatever circumstance I am in. The protocol is definitely worth it because I gained my health back and now am in my 60's and take no medicine whatsoever and except for an accident have had no other medical treatment except having two babies naturally after that. It may take some time but a slow sure progress can reverse a lot of things. I hope this helps.

Re: anyone know ....(agave sweetener)
Dear Shannon,
If one has high blood sugar, it will cause a person to want to have a quick 'fix' which is when they will either grab for anything around to bring the sugar back up (and it is usually something sugary) but then it spikes up to quickly. This sounds like what is causing your mother to binge, trying to keep herself from the opposite extreme before she gets there. When it goes down as with low blood sugar one will often become torpid not wanting to eat and if sick not always having a lot of energy to do so. The honey brings one to a stable level from either position and allows the body to reach a calm state where it is capable of accepting and digesting food more normally. It actually gave me an appetite and kept my sugar level stable enough while digesting that I never felt uncomfortable trying to fight off the sugar levels and digestion at the same time, so in answer to your question it actually does bring the appetite up to the level needed for proper digestion. It also does away with the frantic feeling one can get from rushing to eat just to get one's sugar under control. I was actually quite surprised at such a simple solution. Perhaps your mom could use it in her tea or as a sweetner and it will help stabilize her even more, and at least keep her from the other sugars while she adjusts her desire to sweets and even if she doesn't (since it is part of the fun of life) she is at least minimizing the effects of too much sugar otherwise.
