Seems to be a lot of that going around on TV lately. I watched an episode of The Eleventh Hour , it featured a woman who made homeopathic remedies in her home and dispensed them to clients An episode of House had him railing on about wasting money and time with homeopathy but had the pt go for totally unnecessary surgery ! Made me so mad!

I just wrote this at NBC's website message board for LAW & ORDER: SVU: http://boards.nbc.com/nbc/index.php?showtopic=805242

I had several problems with this episode. First, the producers chose to describe this segment in the TV Guide and all other places as a "homeopathic doctor" have "questionable ethics" in treating a child with AIDS with vitamins. As it turned out, there was not a single mention or reference to the doctor being a "homeopathic doctor." For the record, IF he was a homeopathic doctor, he would have prescribed a homeopathic medicine, not vitamins (vitamins are "nutritional supplements," while homeopathic medicines are totally different and are legally considered "drugs" (though because they are so safe, they are over-the-counter drugs that do not require a doctor's prescription).

One historical note of fact: Homeopathic medicine became extremely popular in the 19th century in Europe and the USA primarily due to the impressive successes that it experienced in treating the many infectious disease epidemics that raged during that time. Today, it is also being used to treat people with various infectious disease, even AIDS. Homeopathic doctors are not AIDS deniers...it is a real disease, and most homeopaths who I know seek to practice "integrative medicine" and take the best of conventional medicine and the best of natural medicine. THIS is the future of medicine.

The issue isn't denying AIDS exists or that it is a "real" disease, it's denying HIV causes AIDS. There are at least 30+ homeopaths who deny or question HIV causes AIDS.

Maybe the future of one's economic survival will depend on being integrative!

So, now you "know" ***more*** integrative homeopaths than classical homeopaths??? Really? WHO are the majority of your current customer base, integrative (Dr. Weil) types or classical ones? And are the majority of the products you sell classical or integrative???

Everyone, as the economy of the US, Britain and the world deteriorates further over the next year, and it will, expect to see many more flee the classical realm for greener pastures, dilute the value of classical homeopathy, along with further attacks on "classical" homeopathy. In bad times, there are always scapegoats that will be found.

Actually this would not be a good topic to generalize about. I think
Dana is correct in saying that "Homeopathic doctors are not AIDS
deniers" simply because there is nothing in being a "homeopathic
doctor" that would dictate one's beliefs about AIDS; that is an
individual matter, about which opinions and understandings differ. The
homeopathic treatment of an AIDS patient would not be altered by one's
beliefs about its contagiousness, or its cause, or otherwise.
I'm curious how you would describe the difference between an
"integrative" homeopath and a classical one?
