Has anyone here treated this disease, either curatively or palliatively?
I'm especially wondering whether symphytum--or another remedy--could
help with maintaining or regaining bone strength, when the bones have
already been severely weakened by the cancer? (This is someone I will
probably not have any chance to treat; I'm wondering in abstract
mostly, tho would make a suggestion if it seemed appropriate. She's
taking something similar to but not the same as Fosamax, but only for a
few more months because of necrosis risk.)

I have a current case, different immune compromise disease (in a 1
year old cat), but the front legs were badly bowed from calcium loss,
difficult walking.
They are straight now - I used:

Calc phos 6X in food 3x a day
Vitamin D3, equivalent of 10,000 units for people in proportion for
cats (600 units/day for cats)
Lots of pumkin-bifidus-PABA (in people I'd use spinach) for the Vit K
to keep the calcium in the bones.
Plenty of canned salmon, bone-in plus Nori sheets for trace minerals.
Simillimum (which happened to be China in 200C)
Hypericum 30C intercurrently. (I was not sure of this but offered it
to the cat - who took it very eagerly.)
Took about 3 weeks for legs to straighten completely. (I and client
surprised how fast)

Dunno if this would help your case - but seemed so much a coincidence
- maybe worth a mention.

My friend's mother had it and I saw her progress from initial diagnosis until death a few years ago.

I did notice the bone loss over the years as she became shorter and stooped over some. Besides tiredness, mostly from the chemotherapy done every few months, there were not too many observeable changes in basic lifestyle.

Six months before death, the MD recommended newly FDA approved Thalidomide, the old drug from the 50's that caused deformed births. It seems to help for early diagnosis multiple myeloma but is VERY expensive, insurance companies don't want to pay for it and one must find a designated pharmacy to dispense it. It may have been prescribed too late here

Constitutional homeopathic treatment might help if started early in diagnosis and if patient is younger. My friend's mother was in her mid 60's when diagnosed and lived until early 70's. Probably a miasmatic cause that has progressed. Homeopathy would be helpful when the patient progresses to the hospice stage as morphine is used.

This is a situation where Dr. Ramakrishnan's cancer approach may be appropriate. Here's a link to it's use in multiple myeloma:

If there is bone pain as well as fragility, I'd consider using Calc-fl., either as a tissue salt (three times a day), or higher, depending on how severe the pain. I've found this extremely helpful in treating metastases to the bones in other types of cancers, as well as in treating severe osteoporosis with pain.

This is actually someone that I won't have any chance to treat--a
friend's mother, who lives elsewhere and is being well-managed
conventionally. (Actually my friend says she had tried hard with
"alternative" methods--I don't know which--with little result, but is
responding well to thalidomide.) But my friend is concerned about how
she can maintain bone strength once she's out of the (considered to be)
"safe" period for the anti-osteoporosis drug she's on. I'll be working
through this link--thanks very much!

Actually I'll be buying his book, as I now have a family member with
liver cancer.
