soybean - Healthy or Danger?

Post by Subramaniyan K »

Hi all,

Recently I received one forwarded email about dangers of Soy! It was generally known to common people that soybeans is healthy food. I have searched in internet also and found many controversy information on soy.

Anyone please provide exactly about soy. Is it really danger to consume?

Thanks,

Subramaniyan.

Yes.
It skews the immune system to the Th-2 side.
It does other nasty things but this to me is more than enough to not
go near it.

Namaste,
Irene

Hello, just to let you know of this great resource that is about
getting back to basics re- traditional foods, etc.
http://www.westonaprice.org/splash_2.htm
there's wealth of info, but about Soy beans and soy by-products,etc
do search on site for "Soy Alert!"
Also, Mothering Magazine (USA) had great article in their May/June
2004 issue called "The Whole Soy Story: the dark side of america's
favorite health food" that was scary stuff -- what the key piece of
info in this article to hold onto is that "there's nothing natural
about...modern soy-protein products". There's a history in the
article of the Asian (Chinese) use of soy beans and basically how it
is fermented when consumed by humans and only a small amount at that!
Totally, unlike how "health nuts" use soy protein products...
unfermented, processed in highly dangerous ways (to both humans
(adults and children - ie - in formula) and animals) and in lare
quantities...basically what we eat in North America* is mostly made
of waste from the soy industry.
* - I have noticed on my trips to Europe more use of soy production
waste on shelves of grocery stores...like packages of tvp sold in
Portugal in health section of conventional grocery stores I've
frequented.

I am Chinese Canadian and noticed as I ate tvp and other soy products
in the 80's that my Grandmother (who lived to 101) ate very little
soy bean foods...mostly a small fermented sticky square of soy bean
paste (like miso, but Chinese style) from a jar every few days as a
conditment during meals of mostly vegetables, rice and other
natural/unprocessed proteins, like seafood (she loved eating drunken
live shrimp - albeit, a little cruel) and meats.

Needless to say I have stopped eating and drinking soy products...so
instead of soy milk I do almond milk, as I am lactose intolerant, etc.

All the best & enjoy the site mentioned above,
Laura
