acute - swelling of face - progress report

Post by DCR »

Thank you all for your suggestions. My first inclination is that it is an allergic type reaction - and most likely has a contact component - since it is only the left eye area and surrounding region and left hand between the fingers. It has not traveled or expanded. Ars alb gave relief yesterday - the sensation being described as "the tingling feeling you get in your face when novocaine is wearing off". By evening the swelling was reduced by just over 50%. This morning the swelling has returned to roughly the same level it was yesterday morning.
I was reluctant to use Urtica Urens since the swelling was general and did not show the papules or wheals I associate with urticaria. Is Uritica Urens indicated for a more generalized edema such as angioedema?
I was also reluctant to consider this as spider bites - first there was no visual confirmation of spiders (or other insects) present in the closet, and there was no evidence of a bite. My experience with spider bites has been that the bite area reacts first and the symptoms spread radially from the bite, and that systemic reaction occurs last in the sequence. But then, my experience is with tropical and subtropical venomous spiders - and perhaps this is not the case here.
Again, Thank you for your thoughtful input and suggestions. They continue to be very welcome.

why not consider redosing with ars.alb in whatever potency you used. See how long the dose holds and then redose again if necessary
Allergic reactions such as this will often have a gut dysbiosis component. You may also need to used things such as glutamine and intestinal flora along with any of the other 2 nutritional/herb things suggested previously if they are at hand.
regards
Beverly

Since Ars has worked I would suggest Nat.ars- which I have used in
the past for facial edema < morning.

Face affections left side also has Lyco ( apart from Lachesis)( Hering
says edematous face, esp. only on left side Lyc;)

Cham, Kali.carb ( complements Nat.ars) , Ferr ( edematous around
eyes)also look good.

Rhus tox ( facial edema, left sidedness, ? allergy) might be another
to consider-

other symptoms if any might decide...
