online case RM/Feb.01 and rubrics etc
Lisa said this was getting complicated - so lets uncomplicate it.
What is the driving force behind this case? What and where is the centre of
this case?
It would appear to be revolving around injustice - sympathy - anxiety. Not
only for others but for herself. She volunteered the information that it all
started after the break up of her marriage, she was betrayed by a friend,
she was devastated.
So, on the scales which is uppermost? Herself and what was done to her or
her extreme consideration for other's welfare? The latter might be part of
her natural healthy state and has nothing to do with her diseased state.
We must always ask "How has all this changed you?" Then we will know, then
we will have the answers.
So on to rubrics. Lisa's choice of rubrics were elaborate but interesting.
Right or wrong I don't think it is for others to snipe at what is offered
within these online cases or anything else for that matter. There has been
some sniping but it is nowhere as bad as elsewhere (you know where!). We
wouldn't be treating our clients with these attitudes, so please try to be
constructive. And Dave, lighten up and get the healing!
That aside... back to complication, which I actually adore. Keeps the brain
cells going. If you choose to be friends with complications it ceases to be
so. I believe this project is a great platform for discussion and I wish we
all had webcams to enhance it, and in the end it is only as complicated as
you want it to be.
I digress, back to rubrics.
What is the leading rubric - the one which has the correct Rx in it -
although you don't know it for sure at the time - but get that one right and
everything else falls into place.
Is it ailments from disappointed love/unhappy love?
Is it ailments from shock (of being betrayed by a friend)?
How did she react to this causation? Did she cry? Did she fly into a rage or
what? We do not know and we need to know.
Is it anxiety about health?
Is it anticipation, complaints from re: her stagefright type situation?
Is it timidity about appearing in public?
Is it ailments from cares and worry?
Or is it something else?
Hmmm - perhaps we should be taking a look at AMBRA GRISEA.
Thought for the day - one of the most important questions to ask during case
taking is "Why is that?" Then you will have all the answers you need.
I'm off for a rubric free long weekend. Best wishes, Joy Lucas

Dear Joy,
I'm fairly sure that we are attempting to discuss HOMEOPATHY ??
In which case "lighten up" (haha, good joke) could be wonderful advice,
maybe even that sort of advice one thinks one is giving to another when
actually...
Well at any rate ... "elaborate," huh? I don't see why people are so afraid
of their own shadows that they cannot merely say what is so.
Or at least what they believe to be so.
Especially when sharing/teaching an extremely involved discipline such as
homeopathy.
Allowing ridiculous (not "elaborate" but ridiculous) concepts unchallenged
is tantamount to accepting them, is in a sense agreeing to them,
"co-signing" them.
This would be disservice to all, in my humble opinion.

Dear Joy,
Thanks for your interesting and stimulating post. And I thought we had put
this on hold!!!
I'll certainly have a lot of questions to ask her when
she comes in next.
of
If only I knew. I hope she knows when I ask her!!
all
Good point.
Another question to add to the "And what does that mean to you?" type!!
interesting.>>
Agreed
Agreed. I for one appreciate anyone's ideas and will always look into them
thoroughly>>
or
All of these are valid and known except for the thrid which I have to find
out.
I can really see why you came up with this but looking at my rep it really
doesn't come up in many of the rubrics we have been looking at. However it
is in Pain ear right - although I get the feeling that it isn't really a
pain but I couldn't rep it any other way. I wonder if she ever rubs her
hands together in anguish which is what I have seen in Anbra Grisea
patients. I will read Sankaran on it.
"Why is that?" Then you will have all the answers you need.
And I am off to Israel for a week to baby sit my Mum. I will be online when
I arrive there say from Sunday.
Thank you Joy for another thought provoking post!!

Re: online case RM/Feb.01 and rubrics etc
Hi Dave, thanks for this. I have to say that the choice of rubrics were
"qualified" by her - and as I said, right or wrong it all remains
interesting to me. What bothers me more is HOW we deconstruct other's points
of view. Perhaps you would like to present a case yourself illustrating your
methods. That would be a far better way of "challenging" don't you think.
Look forward to it. Regards, Joy

Sorry to say I disagree. This is the merely the outer and inner aspect of
the same dynamic. Over concern about injustice to others reflects concern
about perceived injustice to self. Since both aspects of the dynamic are
limiting the patient, neither can be said to be healthy.
I've deleted the original post of this case, so haven't looked at other
aspects of it, but have you considered the rubric: MIND; DELUSIONS,
imaginations; deceived, is (4) : bamb-a., dros., ozone, ruta?

Wendy

Re: online case RM/Feb.01 and rubrics etc
But Wendy, we do not know if it is OVER concern about injustice. We don't
know if this concern has become inappropriate to the healthy state and
therefore part of the diseased state. Of course the 2 extremes are part of
the same dynamic otherwise they couldn't become diseased with it or by it.
But symptoms have to be graded as to their importance to the case - the
infamous 'overflowing bath' metaphor comes to mind - when an aspect of
someone's life has reached the overflowing with no outlet except to flood
out then you have prescribable Sx. They become less important if the bath is
only half full and is emptied regularly.
Would you like the original case posting to you?

Re: online case RM/Feb.01 and rubrics etc
Hi - have to say I saw the same, and thought of these two rubrics also:
MIND; INJUSTICE, cannot support (SRI-633) (30)
MIND; FEAR; general; ridiculed, of being (1)
Best wishes,

I think you may have missed my point slightly. (And I don't quite understand
how 2 facets of a dynamic can be "diseased with it or by it". IMO they are
merely illustrative of it.) In the extract you quoted, the patient spoke of
her *devastation* at the injustice perpetrated on her by her friend after
the breakup of her marriage. In fact, she pinpointed it as *causative* of
her present state. Her language readily identifies the extent to which this
limits her freedom. It's a crucial symptom. Her concerns at injustices
towards others are merely an outward reflection of this inner devastation -
whether she keeps it in or lets it all hang out, the sensitivity is plain.
It's the *same* dynamic, so the outer reflection can't be separated out and
judged "healthy" when what it's a reflection of has been identified as the
source of her ill health. And the degree of intensity of the outward
reflection is largely immaterial if we already know that its inner aspect
was "devastating" and "causative".

I am referring here to tendency/susceptibility to having concerns for
others. This is potentially an area which can become inappropriately
disharmonious - out of control - become OVERLY concerned to the point of it
being part of the diseased state. Without this tendency or susceptibility it
is unlikely to become a strong Sx within the case.
Wendy also brings in a new rubric - Delusion imagines herself deceived -
which hints again at suspicion and mistrust which I mentioned before. I
actually see this coming through as quite a strong aspect of this case.
But lets not lose sight of the physical symptoms this person presented with.
Fatigue, mouth ulcers, herpetic eruptions on face, earache, dry eyes, warts
(suppressed), cysts, pains in shoulder and neck, right sided/one sided Sx,
steely grey hair, walking in open air
Right sided
< warmth
Warts on face and back
Aphthae in mouth
Herpetic eruptions on face
Dry eyes
Tinnitus and congestion in ears
Neck stiff and swollen, traction and contraction of nape of neck to occiput,
weakness and paralysis of muscles of neck
Numbness
Grumbling stomachs - famous for its flatulence!
Relapsing conditions and repeating Sx
This continues to be interesting.
Best wishes, Joy Lucas
Premature grey hair - she is only 55
