Re: Hahnemann, Homeopathy and Organon - Off shoot of Lachesis and Potencies LONG
Fran, thanks for your postings and the comparisons you give between dry and liquid doses. As a "backed-into-a-corner" liquid doser, I feel I've been very fortunate in that I started working with liquid doses very soon after I finished studying, I didn't get a chance to get entrenched in dry dosing, started studying David Little's material, and said "why not, I'll give it a try". I discovered that the closer case management gave me a much stronger connection with patients, and that even on the rare occasions that there was an aggravation, the fact that they knew I wanted day-to-day progress reports made them feel more equipped to deal with it. Since so much of the work is fine tuning, the fact that the effect of a remedy could be changed through changing the number of succussions, dilutions or moving to olfaction makes the patients realise the value of staying in touch.
One of the problems that I saw and experienced in the dry dosing system is that so often the homeopath says "there may be an aggravation, call me in four weeks time" or similar. I'm not saying this applies to all homeopaths but it happens often - I was taught that the aggravation "window" in dry dose could last up to 40 days after taking the remedy. The idea that someone would leave my clinic feeling worse seemed strange to me, even though I was repeatedly told that aggravation was a good thing, to be looked for.
I don't see why the whole issue has to become so intense. On the one hand - yes, I agree, you can't shrug off all those years of great homeopaths, and the fact that homeopathy made its name and gained adherents during a time when dry dosing was the norm. On the other hand - why not? give it a try? The only problem here is that if a dry doser "gives a try", it has to be done exactly (Organon, DL, Luc de Shepper) - otherwise it's just too easy to say "it doesn't work" when it just wasn't done properly.

Hi Vera, Fran, all
I also started liquid dosing early on, because of a little book about
LM's written by a Dutch homeopath.
But on the other hand I like the 'wait and watch' a lot.
So in general I let them take one dose and my 'standard warning' is
that for the first few day's they might not notice so much and after
about a week there might be a reaction.
If it becomes imbearable they can call and I try to find out if it is
already going the right direction. If so I tell to wait.
If not so I sometimes redose and sometimes let them wait another day.
For me this works best, because I have a sort of 'standard dosing'
but I can adjust easily.
My experience is mostly based on LM's and not so much on C's in
water, but I am reading more about them lately because they might be
very much worth using sometimes.
