Help required from 5th edition prescribers

Post by Rochelle »

As I said previously I am trying this out.
I have a 81 yr old very lively lady who I treated successfully in 2005 with Arsenicum 30 with 3 dry doses for itching skin, heartburn, headaches and worry.
She came to see me again last month with the itching skin again, which is constant, can burn and which she has to scratch . The scratching helps but the itch comes up in another place. There is no visible eruption and mostly on the right side. She reckoned that she had NBWS a fall in March and she did take Arnica 30 at the time. She is crying at the drop of a hat, is now incontinent at night and has been getting heartburn. I decided to give her Ars 30 again but according to the 5th Edition. I gave her a 100ml bottle , told her to succuss 10 times and take 1 teaspoon. The itching got marginally better so she stopped the remedy. It came back but she didn't restart until last week and there has been no different. She also has a niggling tooth bottom molar that she wants to be taken out as she is getting pain in the right side of here neck which she thinks is caused by this. Her dentist can't see her until the end of the month and that is paying but that is what it is like in the UK!! I told her to phone tomorrow and see if she can get an emergency appointment. She is due to see me again next Tuesday and I told her that in the meantime to increase the succussions to 12 and take a teaspoon morning and night as in Dr Luc's book he reckoned that the amount taken does matter. Maybe I should have told her to take 2 teaspoons at once??
BTW - she has been to her doctor has every blood test and the results were normal. He says the skin problem must be a virus and says she has an overactive immune system!!! He gave her a pill for her incontinence but she won't take it without showing it to me first! Oh yes she has pernicious anaemia and has Vit 12 injections.
Any suggestions how I proceed? Go to 200C? Change the Rx?? Go back to dry doses?

Briefly, cos I've got to go, how does she know for sure she has a Vit B12 deficiency, what tests have been done - I would also question the problems the injections might be causing - do your research on pernicious anaemia (there could be a serious liver condition developing and the constantly itching skin could be bile that is finding its way through to the skin surface (she wouldn't have to be jaundiced for this to occur) - re take the case not only to rule in or out the Arsenicum but to check what else might come through - as the test dose seemed to have some >> I would probably be asking her to repeat (also agree with varying the succussions). Thanks for that Joy. She has had blood tests that showed all was OK and one of those was for anaemia. However is there a special test for B12? If so I will ask her to go back to the doctor and insist on it before anymore injections.

Bit confused if tests are Ok but she has the dx of pernicious anaemia - schillng test is the specific, there may be others, you have to do your research on this

by any chance the pain from her tooth has the sensation of a splinter embedded or possibly with the diarrhoea she has very pale stools - if either of those, have a look at Dolichos (if in time you feel the rx needs changing)
