point to this rubric.

Allen's Encyc:
"- Illusions of fantasy; as she was reading a book it seemed as though
some one were reading after her, and she were obliged to read more
rapidly; with humming and buzzing before her ear; on rising it seemed as
though she were looking over great clouds and rocks, which gradually
disappeared; then she was attacked with anxiety, apprehension, and
uneasiness, so that she did not know what to do; on farther looking
about, all these illusions disappeared, but returned on beginning to
read again, until at last she was drawn away and averted by several
people coming to her (the prover remembers having a similar illusion in
her early youth, over which she wept violently and could not be quieted
for a long time), (sixth day), [a5]."

it's more or less well translated.

Some mistakes:
"with humming and buzzing before her ear;"
original:
"with humming and buzzing around her"

"on rising it seemed as though she were looking over great clouds and
rocks, which gradually disappeared"
original:
"on rising it seemed as though she were seeing above her over great
clouds and rocks, which gradually disappeared"

"all these illusions disappeared, but returned on beginning to read
again"
original:
"the entire illusion disappeared, but returned twice on beginning to
read again"

Interesting, what the rubric made out of this symptom-complex......

I think this shows everyone why repertories can only serve as
pointers.....without the original texts you will be simply lost in the
jungle of symptoms.

Thank you Gaby, excellent and precise as always

I agree entirely about how to use reps, although we do know 'essentially' that all the Magnesiums have this attitude towards duty, especially to do with pacifying but I would actually read or understand this sx then as a need to perform a mental function well enough so that others will be able to understand? Thus you have the mind sx - mental exertion << and a certain level of confusion.

Dear Joy,

complementing your interpretation of the mental symptom would be another
symptom within the dream chapter:

Dreams:
She became anxious in a dream about work that she could not accomplish,
[a5].

From the same source there are a couple of other very anxious dreams.
Yet, at least from one perspective, we should be careful, as these
symptoms were all delivered by Nenning (male; the sympoms mentioned come
from female provers). As rumour has it, Nenning gave remedies to
untrained people (and paid them a small amount of money for their
symptoms).
So at least some older homoeoapths were quite sceptical about everything
coming from Nenning.

Writes the American Institute of Homeopathy in its 40th session in 1887:
"In regard to dreams, I believe that if our provings had been conducted
carefully in all cases, dreams would have been valuable indications for
our drugs. Unfortunately, provers have put down all dreams experienced,
without regard to other circumstances. Especially is this the case with
the provings conducted by Nenning. He had a number of shop girls under
test, and their recorded dreams confuse us by their lack of
characteristics and their diffuseness. If we would eliminate these, or
go over a few more carefully, we might get a more accurate
symptomatology. "

While some - or many - homoeopaths bad-mouthed Nenning, others later on
confirmed many symptoms of his (and his provers') provings.
It's still a topic for discussion.

Mental exertion agg. for Mag-m, this is beyond any doubt.

We have more than 800 symptoms from the provings and the clinical
experiences
- in the older journals : Mag-m was used for constipation; also
headache; bilious attacks;
- in Sankaran's System: a case of skin allergy in a 12 yo. girl
- in Scholten's Minerals: a case of a 20 yo woman.

An interesting, complex remedy, without any doubt.
