organ supports
Here is a short list of homeopathic organ supports, i.e. proven rx, although can't guarantee they have all been proved without spending a lot of time checking, but at least they might help wean some of you off theoretical and non-homeopathic methods - I guess it comes down to what defines being a homeopath - the list is by no means a complete one and all these rx have the potential to be the required simillimum

Dear Joy,
Thanks for your list. You did not recommend thymus support as is
needed in FIP/pred cases, and by the way the sarcodes ARE proven
remedies too as "organ support".
It's not a new idea - Organ support was promoted by Constantine Hering
back in the 1800s. Sarcodes - refer to homeopathic potency of organs or
glands to support said organs/glands, such as by improving absorption of
whatever components of the organ are needed from the nutrition to
enhance the organ function - and a potentized version is found (proven)
appropriate to achieve this. In this case it's to help the Thymus organ
to regenerate - Thymus being prerequisite to having a functional immune
system. And that in turn being prerequisite to healing by simillimum.
The substances of the organ sarcode of a healthy gland are homeopathic
to the organ's healthy needs, to regenerate healthy Thymus. So as long
as thymus regeneration is yor aim then the Thymus sarcode is
appropriate, and a kidney or liver remedy etc, will not help.
So to your list - I'll add a starter Thymus list for Thymus organ
support; maybe you can add to it:
Thymus support.
Thymus 4C.
As Dr Roz was saying - when the organ is not working - the simillimum
can not do so either. In FIP/pred cases, it is the thymus that is not
working. It is actually degenerated usually to less than 10% of original
size, and sometimes is hard to find at all!
By the way - "Thymus" is not an organ mentioned in any of my repertory
rubrics. Like most people - homeopathy is not perfect - yet:-)
But we are working on that....
For thymus repair? No.
There is not even a theory to suggest that supporting remedies for one
organ are automatically "potential simillimums" for some other organ
that is practically missing but essential.
If there are other Thymus supports - fine - the only proven herbal/plant
one I know of is a combo of plant sterol and sterolin in a specific 100
to 1 ratio (eg Moducare), and I also use that in all FIP and other TH-2
skewed cases.
Your list was very nice in many other case uses thanks Joy - it just did
not cover the relevant organ we are discussing for this situation.
It's new territory - someone has to walk it - it's not in the
repertories - yet:-)

IRene

Re: organ supports
so please supply the proving data for Pred and Thymus as it will be a relief to see your sx similarity and where is it stated that when an organ isn't working the simillimum won't either - bunkum and it is irresponsible to be telling everyone on this list that.
perhaps you would also like to explain your theories about what the simillimum is as it seems to go out side of hahnemannian principles - any rx can be the required simillimum if it matches sx. Joy

Re: organ supports
Hi Joy,
Since Irene has passed on your question below, here are my thougts:
According to what I was taught, proving data for prednisone (or any
other drug or substance) would include all of the known "side-effects",
e.g. the damaging effects that Irene has noted. We have many remedies
in our materia medica with no more formal proving than this; much of
Boericke (for e.g.) appears to be just that, and "poisoning and
accidental ingestion" *have* been accepted sources of prescribing
information from the beginning. This does not give us the more
delicate, detailed and specific M/E symptoms that can be gotten from
proving in potency (or even by more careful examination of poisonings),
but then neither do Irene's cats.
Best wishes,
Shannon

Re: organ supports
Thanks Joy -- nice overview of remedy affinities. I'd like to add to
Irene's observation that the thymus is notably absent from our literature
and repertories that the adrenals seem similarly unappreciated. Joy (or
anybody), do you know remedies that have a particular affinity to either the
thymus or the adrenals?
Thanks.

Re: organ supports
Hi Rosemary,
I also have looked in the past for adrenal-related remedies, and what I
wound up using as a start, were the rubrics "Kidneys, Addison's
disease": abel, adren, ant-c, apom, aq-mar, arg-n, ars, ars-i, bac,
bell, calc, calc-ar, calc-i, calc-p, carb-v, caust, chin, cortiso,
cupr, ferr, ferr-i, hydr-ac, iod, kali-ar, kali-c, kreos, lyc, mang,
med, nat-m, nat-s, nit-ac, ol-j, petr, phos, pic-ac, psor, sarcol-ac,
sec, sep, sil, spig, sulph, supren-cort, ther, thuj, tub, vanad.

hello Shannon
Was this a cut-and-paste? If so it is cortiso mentioned rather than cortico? If it was cut from a repertory using only proved remedies isn’t it relevant to the discussion that cortiso is here? What applies to one gland might apply to others you would have thought.
Also, if anyone is going to order Thymus, make sure you ask for the gland or you might end up with Thyme on your hands, so to speak. I did that once.

Re: organ supports
Hi Theresa,
It does indeed say cortiso, tho I would certainly think cortico belongs
there too. I'm not all that solid on the physiology etc., but would
cortisone be one specific member of the corticosteroid group?
