Case : A patient with chronic headache, after spending millions with
various doctors and specialists came to me. After finishing his
health history, description of his headache etc., he ended up
saying: "Doctor, if you or any one can cure me of this terrible
headache, I won't mind even giving away half of my property (worth
three millions) to him."
Doctors of all other systems would simply ignore these words told by
the patient at the end of his talk.
If a patient says that he is ready to pay 1.5 millions for getting
his headache cured, we can say that he is "deplorably downhearted."
[deplorable = shockingly bad]
Under the homoeo remedy Stillingia (in the para `mind' in Wilkinson's
Materia Medica), we find the words "deplorably downhearted; suffering
extreme torture from bone pains;" Stillingia 10M, one dose cured
him.
Case : A lady, the mother-in-law of a fourth stage cancer patient,
came to me asking for medicine for cancer. When I asked her to bring
the patient she said that he won't come. I asked her to tell me at
least in verbatim what he had said. She replied, "He does not say
anything.''

At this stage I asked her whether she did not care to go and see her
son-in-law who is said to be in fourth stage cancer. She replied:
"My daughter wrote me a letter stating that and doctors have said
that he would live for another six months only, and he is not afraid
of death, but he wants to live with family in the same quarters in
which he had been all along living and said that he does not want
anyone (be it friends or relative) to visit him.''
(Sometimes, we do get valuable symptom from the report of
messengers).

Let us now see how to work out this case.
"does not want anyone to visit him". This means:
"Company, aversion to"

till death wants to live with family in the same
quarters where he had been living all these years . This
means "homesick"

(1) COMPANY, aversion to: 46 remedies (page 27 of Knerr's Repertory)

(2) HOMESICK: 10 remedies (page 50 ..)
Only three remedies, viz., Carbo a., magn. m., and natr. m. are
common to the above two lists.
To confirm one out of these three, all these were studied in
HOMOEOPATHIC THERAPEUTICS (By Dr. Samuel Lilienthal) under the
chapter ""Carcinoma''. Only Carbo a. was described and the remaining
two remedies (magn. m., and natr. m.) were not found.
In the description under Carbo animals, among other things, the
following words confirmed our selection. Cachexia fully developed.
Carbo animalis cured the case and the patient is living even today

COMPUTERS AND SOFTWARE IN HOMOEOPATHIC PRACTISE: We have no objection
to he use of computers in selecting the remedy. But it is maya (a
Hindoosthani term meaning illusion') to think that selecting the
remedy from the computer is `time-saving' and `unfailing.' The
reference book HOMOEOPATHIC THERAPEUTICS by Dr. Samuel Lilienthal
(for use as and when a case comes to us and not a textbook for study
from cover to cover) is, in a fair percentage of cases, quicker and
unfailing than any latest computer software.
Somewhere Dr. Samuel Lilienthal, the author of HOMEOPATHIC
THERAPEUTICS, aptly observed about his work, "Drop a symptom in the
slot and you get the remedy."

Yes, it is that much quicker. Ten times surer and quicker than the so-
called latest software, Radar, Cara etc. The problem with software is
(be it astrology, homeopathic selection of the remedy or any subject)
that those who had developed them are poor either in their knowledge
of computer or the subject in which they have developed the software.
One has to be expert both as computer software professional and a
wizard in the subject. That is rare to find!
Before you start using Lilienthal's, the reader must remember the
following words of Dr. Oscar E. Boericke (in the PREFACE to the ninth
edition of his REPERTORY):
"…It is only by the persistent use of one repertory, that its
peculiar and intricate arrangements gradually crystallizes itself in
definite outline, in the mend of the student of the same, and thus he
attains the ready ease and practical insight of the collator, thereby
rendering such a clinical bee-line well-nigh indispensable in our day
of labor-saving devices."

We have such wonderful authors around 1930's that the arrangement and
presentation of their works enable us to select the remedy in no
time.

WHAT IS LILIENTHAL'S HOMEO THERAPEUTICS AND HOW TO USE IT?
Actual cases treated successfully are given below to illustrate the
use of Lilienthal's:

Case : A boy of eleven was brought by his mother: "Doctor, look at
him. The boy is making constant movements of his fingers. He often
becomes violent and restless. This started six months ago. We went to
all allopathic hospital and they diagnosed his case as worm complaint
and gave him santonine, but even the double the adult dose of it had
no effect. Then we went to a Homeopathy specialist. Here shows me the
prescription: Cina-30 daily morning and Graphites-30 daily night, for
one month. (Graphites because of eruption on the left forearm of the
boy.) We completed one month course of these two remedies but no
result."

I looked at the boy again and the case sheet. `Case sheet' means
plain white sheet on which we start writing down one below the other
what all the patient and/or his relatives tell us. After a pause, the
mother told me with wide-open eyes, "Doctor, ever since he developed
worm complaint he often complains of headache and vertigo. Why is it
so doctor?"

I went through all the remedy descriptions in Lilienthal's
HOMEOPATHIC THERAPEUTICS under the chapter `WORM AFFECTIONS.' Thirty-
four remedies are described and the words `vertigo and headache' told
by the mother (which is an `uncommon' symptom in worm complaint) were
found under one remedy only viz., Cicuta virosa. This remedy in 200th
potency, single dose, cured worm symptoms as well as his skin
complaint.

70 to 90 per cent of caesarean surgeries can be avoided and turned
into normal delivery by just three doses of homoeo medicine taken
orally:

The foetus (baby in the uterus of the pregnant mother) 1-3 weeks
prior to delivery date (so long remaining in upright position) turns
upside down, and the uterus descends down in such a way that the head
of the foetus remains fixed in the pelvic floor of the mother. 1-3
weeks later, at the delivery time the mouth of the uterus dilates and
the child comes out. Even after the full term of ten months if the
child does not turn upside down, or
(a) having turned upside down, does not descend further down; orb)
turns half-way only and lies crosswise the attending lady doctor
would say that head is still floating or is in incorrect position and
so opens the abdomen to take out the child. This surgery is called
cesarean section. 70 to 90 per cent of caesarean surgeries in the
present day are conducted solely for this reason.
At this time if the patient takes three doses of the homoeopathic
medicine called Pulsatilla-1000, every 4-8 hours, in the next twenty-
four hours it would be a normal and safe delivery.
But what any average layman has learnt is nothing but wrong beliefs.
Such wrong beliefs are: "Homoeo medicine would not act if you take
coffee; "You should not take any drink/food at least fifteen minutes
before/after taking the dose; "Homoeo medicine acts slowly and is
useless in medical emergencies."
On reading the above, the average reader may retort: "Okay, when
allopathy has no cure, I would, in future, go to a homoeopathic
doctor."

In the reference book Accoucheur's Emergency Manual by Dr. W. A.
Yingling, M.D., of U.S.A. we find the following:
"Abnormal presentations may be righted if (Pulsatilla is) given
before the membranes are ruptured or the presenting parts are firmly
engaged…"

Ask any homoeopathic doctor to define the role of the remedy
Pulsatilla in difficult labor and he reveals his ignorance of the
above said book by Dr. W. A. Yingling.
That is the fate of not only homoeopathy but also of
many things on earth. Most of all you have learnt from others about
homoeopathy are nothing but hearsay.

CASE; A lady in her fifth month of pregnancy walks in with scan
report telling that the growth of the foetus (baby in uterus) is just
three months. Scan one month earlier to this also showed three months
growth only. The foetus has stopped growing. Allopathy has no
medicine for this. Homoeopathy was discovered, introduced and
promoted by leading allopathic doctors only, all M.D.s. in Germany,
America, Austria etc., only for the purpose of finding remedies for
diseases where allopathy has no cure or surgery alone is the resort.
I just looked into a reference book. It is REPERTORY by Dr. Calvin B.
Knerr, M.D. of U.S.A. This 1232-page book is not a textbook for study
from cover to cover, but to be used as a reference book only, as and
when a case comes up.

Under "Chapter No. 24 - PREGNANCY, PART-URITION, LACTATION" I noted
the following:

Pregnancy, foetus:… arrests development,
Sec. (Secale Cornutum)

I give just only one single dose (2 pills, chewable, taken any time)
of this remedy Secale Cornutum-10,000. A month later with the scan
report and check up, the doctor found that the child had started
growing.

Now, you may go to any professor in homoeo colleges or so-called
leading homoeopaths in your city and (telling your sister or wife is
in the fifth month of pregnancy and that growth of the child is only
three months) ask him whether he can do anything. To your utter
dismay, you will find that he gives two or more medicines to be taken
daily, for 2-3 weeks or so; and you do not find the above said Secale
Cornutum in his prescription.
Let us not argue why such a state of ignorance exists among
practicing homoeopaths. The minority is always correct. Nature keeps
her ways secret.
In medical emergencies (more particularly where life is in danger)
arising from Traumatic Causes homoeopathy offers total cure even
before the time needed to rush the victim to a doctor or hospital.

EXTENSIVE BURNS WHERE DEEPER TISSUES ARE AFFECTED:
A lady accidentally got boiling tea flashed on her face and lost her
eyesight. The remedy for extensive burns is Carbolic Acid-200. One
single dose helped her to regain eyesight.
Someone puts into his mouth, acid (used for cleaning the floor of
toilet) mistaking it for mouthwash. Even if you go to an allopathic
doctor he has no medicine to cure him immediately and totally. The
victim cannot take solid food, masala items etc. It is months before
he can return to his usual diet. But one single dose of the same
above said medicine Carbolic Acid-200 would give total relief in no
time. Wounds heal without a scar.

In 70-90 per cent of cases of fracture of tibia bone in the leg, the
site of the fracture does not heal for months and years causing lot
of trouble to the victim. Yes, look at one hundred victims of
fracture of tibia and you would come to know that more than seventy
per cent of them are having complaints for years and years even after
being treated by specialists and ortho doctors. These cases are
magically cured completely in 1-3 days with one single dose of the
homoeopathic medicine called Anthracinum-1000.

Dear readers, you may go to any teacher in any homoeopathic college
and pretend to consult him for a relative of yours for chronic
effects of fracture of tibia bone. He would prescribe several
remedies to be taken for weeks and YOU ARE TOO SHOCKED TO FIND that
the name of the above medicine Anthracinum is not in his
prescription.

The minority is always correct — Lord Bernard Shaw is not at all
wrong!!

To prove the statement that the minority is always correct let us
consider the cure of the worst and dreaded chikungunya disease with
one single dose of the homoeo medicine called Polyporus Pinicola-
10,000x.

My students and myself have treated thousands of victims of the
dreaded disease with one single dose of this remedy and the rate of
success is 70-90%. But all leading homoeopathic doctors, be it
president of homoeo associations or college professor, are giving
different remedies for weeks with 1-5% result.
If you are prepared to sacrifice two hours of your valuable time
every Sunday with me, in about 3-6 months you can learn homoeopathy
better than a homoeopath who had studied five years in a college. By
this I do not mean that you can become a full-fledged doctor, but in
more than thirty percent of cases where allopaths fail, you can
certainly be of help.

CASE; The other day a puny child of two-and-a-half years was brought
to me. One distressing symptom was that it cannot pass stool. Asked
whether they tried any medicine, they said laxatives and purgatives
prescribed by allopaths had surprisingly no effect. Even domestic
medicine like big dry grape given at bedtime too did not give any
relief. The above said reference book REPERTORY by Dr. Calvin B.
Knerr, M.D. was consulted. I found the following:

CONSTIPATION: drugs: purgatives of no avail, Lac-defloratum, Opium.
(The last two are names of two different homoeo medicines.)
The first remedy (when read in the Materia Medica by Dr. William
Boericke, M.D. of America) has symptoms of defective nutrition (which
probably caused emaciation of the child) and it was given in one
single dose. Within 3-4 days the child started passing stool
promptly. (It may be noted here that homoeopaths had earlier given
several remedies for this child to be taken for months, all in vain!)
So easy to find the remedy, so quick in action, but the practising
homoeopaths do not possess a copy of the above said REPERTORY by Dr.
Calvin B. Knerr. Even if any one has a copy he does not know how to
use it.

Not only the above things, but the following too are not known to
majority of homoeopaths.
The other day I visited an old friend of mine; his elder daughter was
sitting in a corner shedding tears. On enquiry, the girl's father
said that in the following week doctors had given the date for
caesarean surgery since she won't develop normal labor pains as she
was so weak and anaemic. I looked into the reference book by Dr. W.
A. Yingling and under the chapter "Labor" noted the following:

Weak, patient too, to develop normal
pains, Caul., Mur-ac.

The second remedy Muriatic Acid has symptoms of anaemia and so this
remedy was given three doses (to be taken every eight hours) on the
date when she goes to hospital for delivery. Much to the surprise of
the attending doctors it was a normal delivery within twenty-four
hours.

As a sample, we give below the correct answers for question No. 1, 7
and 12:

Answer to qn. no.1: Secale is almost a specific when the growth of
foetus is arrested. (See page 698 of Repertory by Dr. Calvin B.
Knerr: Pregnancy, foetus: arrests development, Secale.) One single
dose of Secale 10m is sufficient.

Answer to qn. no.7: Crotalus horridus is one of the prime remedies,
to be thought in cases of haemophilia.
Answer to qn. no.12: For a patient with chronic tonsillitis, you
would generally look into the Repertory against the following:
Tonsils, inflamed (quinsy, tonsillitis) (page 389 of Knerr's
Repertory)

But remedies in this list may be useful for acute complaints of
tonsillitis. For curing tonsillitis permanently, it needs `treatment
of chronic diseases.' Chronic tonsilitis is in most cases due to
tuberculosis (See MEDICAL DISEASES oF INFANCY AND CHILDHOOD BY Dawson
Williams, M.D., London: Cassel & Co. page 338-348)

(a) When tuberculosis affects lungs we call it tuberculosis of lungs
or phthisis pulmonum; with family history of tuberculosis, when t.b.
affects bones or glands it is called `scrofula' or `struma' in
homoeopathy.

(b) All chronic affections of glands are due to tuberculosis in the
family. Chronic affections of bones may be due to tuberculosis or
syphilis; (in syphilitic affections of bones we find nightly boring
pain.)

THEREFORE, to cure a chronic tonsilitis patient, we must examine the
remedies given in Knerr's Repertory again the following head.

there is the Lilienthal in German, too. Very usefull, indeed.
And a little book: Kronenberger, Codex der Homöo-Therapie.
If you are lucky, you can buy it second hand (www.zvab.de ), because there was only a little edition in 1930.

Yes Luise, it is a good rep. Throws out surprising rubrics
pertaining to the case often. But , one should be careful not to be
flooded by the same sort when one gets one too many for the same
situation. Many plusses , and many minuses.
Guess why it is still not used extensively even in this info age
when availability either in print or electronic data is not a
problem! May be the format, may be the bulk or the print.

Yes, the source is good- the Guiding Symptoms, which is a digest of
proving plus verified symptoms. But I use Knerr only half as I use
Hering. May be my prejudice for names

Knerr is one of my main tools. I use it probably 80 % of the time. It
is excellent, more clinically oriented and if used properly gives a
good sense why some remedies are suggested. One of the main reasons it
is not being widely used is lack of training in it. Kent and
Boenninghausen have good books to explain their structure etc. I once
published a series of articles on using Knerr, HA Roberts, Neatby etc.
Many of my successful cases were because of this repertory.

We need all of these reps and each one has its particular usage.

I am sure that Knerr must be available in one of the software
packages. I am not sure because I have not been using any software
package.

As to my article availability - they were published 13 years back in a
journal published out of India - Homoeopathy In Practice- which came
out for a few years and stopped. I have them and if I get a good
scanner shall forward to you if you are interested.
