It is not me ! But our own Hahnemann gives allopathy 2000 year
history.(preface to the organon) Since it all originated with
Hippocrates, the 2 millennia 'history' stuck.

Hello list,
are you aware of the fact that Hippocrates was the first who said the famous phrase of Homeopathy: "The Similar are cure for the similar"?

yes, that is why i raised the question. i think i had read this or something
similar on david little's site. i was fascinated to read about the conflict between
the control-and-conquer type of protocol vs the holistic style protocols that has
existed from early history. and i thought that hippocrates came down on the
holisitc side.

Most of the ancients would come down on Holistic side- Hippocrates was
so much into vis medicatrix naturae and let nature takes its course
and heal category- ( mostly also because they cannot do anything else)

He was the father of allopathy( or the "official healing") and
probably grandfather to Homeopathy- every system of medicine has
things that can relate to him - Avicenna borrowed a lot from him - and
so that goes into Unani and Arab medicine as well...

We should not forget that Homeopathy was built on top of allopathy -
it was developed as a medical science...was it not an advanced or new
"medical" science?

When Hahnemann comments about not building theories -say infectious
origin of diseases- he was commenting about the vague theories based
on humors, astrological constellations, alchemical theories of his
time- neither scientific nor peer reviewed nor published anywhere so
that other experts can comment on them- to equate those to the current
medical science is neither fair to allopathy nor respectful to Hahnemann-

moreover medical science is medical science- it is neither allopathy
nor homeopathy- we can borrow and improve our case taking and
management when it is good to do so - and it behoves us to do that if
we want to be still relevant - for example treating and managing acute
conditions successfully-

Sheri et al might say that "it is only symptoms that we need to
prescribe" - which might be true. But true practice of medicine is
much more than giving medicines- it is about prevention as well- good
nutrition etc. is good but at the same time good advice on safety
handling of disease products ( even in common cold there are things
that people can do to minimize the spread of viruses) is important too-

it is better not be wedded to theories - whether in allopathy or
homeopathy- Our theories should guide us to better the patient and
should be actionable and be effective-
