Re[2]: recent Vithoukas article on homeopathy... and Sankarans met...

My comments come from the the perspective of a lecturer and
practitioner and what I see happening in Australia.

Here, theoretically, students cannot practice until they have
graduated. Our training programs seem to have become very l-o-o-n-g.
Basic Organon homeopathy and the polycrests are taught in the early
years. The latter years deal with lesser known remedies and more
creative approaches to analysing the case and choosing the remedy -
this is the area of gurus and "sexy" homeopathy.

Problem is that students are being exposed to this material before
having an opportunity to practice and become well grounded in Organon
homeopathy and the polycrests. They graduate feeling that if they
cannot analyse a case via the Sankaran or Scholten method (or any
other influential name) that they will not be a competent homeopath.

Those of us who have been around for a while know that basic
homeopathy and polycrest prescribing make up the bulk of our practices
(or at least they do in mine) and that this is where students need
mastery before looking elsewhere. They usually do not have this
awareness that in turn would help them analyse the more speculative
material they are being exposed to just prior to graduation.

I see students graduating with an almost condescending air about
simple mainstay homeopathic practice or, alternatively, being highly
under-confident because they feel they could never develop the mastery
or expertise of their lecturers who exposed them to homeopathic
exotica in their final years. Very few are in practice in a year's
time.

Regarding some of our gurus from the seminar circuit, and I an
acknowledging perception rather than trying to be disrespectful, I am
always interested to hear about how and when they dose because this
tells me if they are even aware of basic Organon principles. Sankaran
and Scholten do come to mind here. If they are not I always wonder if
the difficulties that drove them to develop their new methodology
could have easily been resolved by just applying basic homeopathy. We
will never know.

What does that mean? Is it the schools that do not allow them to
practice or do they require a license from the state and only get it
after such graduation?
